  3. Placement: Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface. Ensure it is near a standard electrical outlet.
  4. First Brew (Cleaning Cycle):
    • Fill the carafe with 12 cups of clean water (distilled or regular water can be used).
    • Pour the water into the water reservoir located at the top of the coffee maker. The internal markings indicate water levels for 2, 4, up to 12 cups.
    • Place the empty filter basket into its holder. Do not add coffee grounds for this cycle.
    • Close the top lid securely.
    • Place the empty carafe with its lid on the warming plate.
    • Plug the coffee maker into a standard electrical outlet.

    • Discard the hot water from the carafe.
    • Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool completely before proceeding.

Operating Instructions

  1. Prepare Filter: Place a paper filter (or the included reusable filter) into the removable filter basket.
  2. Add Coffee Grounds: Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. A general guideline is 1 tablespoon of coffee per cup, but adjust to your taste.
  3. Place Filter Basket: Slide the filter basket securely into its position within the coffee maker.
  4. Add Water: Fill the glass carafe with the desired amount of fresh, cold water (up to 12 cups). Pour the water into the water reservoir. Ensure the water level does not exceed the "12-cup" mark.
  5. Position Carafe: Place the carafe with its lid firmly on the warming plate.
  6. Start Brewing: Plug the coffee maker into a standard electrical outlet. Press the ON/OFF button. The indicator light will illuminate, and brewing will begin.
  7. Sneak-A-Cup Feature: If you need a cup of coffee before the brewing cycle is complete, you can temporarily remove the carafe. The flow of coffee will pause. Return the carafe to the warming plate within 20 seconds to prevent overflow. Brewing will resume automatically.
  8. Serving: Once brewing is complete, the coffee maker will keep the coffee warm on the warming plate. The indicator light will remain on until the unit is manually turned off.
  9. Turn Off: After serving, press the ON/OFF button to turn off the coffee maker and unplug it from the outlet.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.

  1. Daily Cleaning:
    • Always unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
    • Remove the used coffee filter and discard coffee grounds.
    • Wash the carafe, carafe lid, and removable filter basket in warm, soapy water. These parts are top-rack dishwasher safe.
    • Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker, warming plate, and power cord with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
    • Ensure all parts are thoroughly dry before reassembling or storing.
  2. Decalcifying (Mineral Deposit Removal):

Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance. Decalcify every 80 brews or monthly, depending on water hardness.

    • Pour 4 cups of white vinegar into the water reservoir.
    • Place an empty paper filter in the filter basket.
    • Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
    • Turn on the coffee maker and let half of the vinegar solution brew through.
    • Turn off the coffee maker and let it soak for at least 15 minutes.
    • Turn the coffee maker back on and let the remaining solution brew through.
    • Discard the vinegar solution and rinse the carafe thoroughly.
    • Fill the reservoir with 12 cups of fresh, cold water and brew through to rinse the system. Repeat this rinsing cycle at least twice.
