Cridoz Tattoo Transfer Paper TTP-03 User Manual

Model: TTP-03 | Brand: Cridoz

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper use of Cridoz Tattoo Transfer Paper, Model TTP-03. This product is designed to facilitate the transfer of tattoo designs onto skin, suitable for both freehand drawing and thermal copier applications. For optimal results, please read and follow all instructions carefully.

2. Product Overview

The Cridoz Tattoo Transfer Paper is an A4-sized, 4-ply sheet system engineered for efficient design transfer. Each sheet measures approximately 8 1/4" x 11 3/4" (21cm x 29.7cm) and can be cut to smaller sizes as needed.

2.1. Sheet Structure

Each transfer paper consists of four distinct layers:

  1. Master Sheet: The top white layer where the design is applied or printed.
  2. Protective Tissue: A translucent sheet that protects the carbon layer. This layer must be removed before use.
  3. Transfer Carbon Paper: The blue layer containing the transfer pigment.
  4. Yellow Backing Sheet: A thicker yellow sheet that holds the layers together.

3. Setup and Preparation

Before beginning the transfer process, ensure you have the necessary materials:

  • Cridoz Tattoo Transfer Paper (TTP-03)
  • Design to be transferred (printed or drawn)
  • Stencil Ointment or Transfer Media: This is crucial for successful transfer to the skin and must be purchased separately.
  • Scissors (if cutting the design)

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. General Transfer Process to Skin

Follow these steps for transferring your design onto the skin:

  1. Prepare the tattoo transfer paper.
  2. Carefully remove the second protective tissue paper layer.
  3. Apply your design onto the master sheet. This can be done by drawing by hand or printing with a thermal machine.
  4. Separate the copy paper (carbon layer) from the master paper. The design will be printed on the reverse side of the master paper.
  5. Cut the design according to the desired pattern size.
  6. Apply a thin, even layer of transfer paste (stencil ointment) onto the clean skin area where the tattoo will be placed.
  7. Carefully apply the master sheet with the design onto the prepared skin. Press the back side of the pattern firmly to the skin for at least 3 seconds. Ensure even pressure.
  8. Gently remove the master sheet and wait for the transferred design to dry before proceeding.

4.2. Freehand Drawing or Typing on Master Sheets

For manual design creation:

  • To type on a master sheet:
    1. Remove the protective tissue paper and insert the unit into a typewriter, master paper up.
    2. Use either a light or medium pressure setting on an electric typewriter.
    3. If platen is soft or unevenly worn, use a plastic backing sheet for a sharper result.
  • To write or draw on a master sheet:
    1. Place the unit on a smooth but resilient surface and remove the protective tissue paper.
    2. Use a pencil with a fairly hard lead or a ballpoint pen.
    3. Use firm, even pressure to draw.
  • To make a correction:
    1. Scrape off incorrect copy using a single-edged razor blade, avoiding damage to the finish of the master.
    2. Carefully dispose of all ink removed from the paper.
    3. Use correction tape over the area.
    4. Use spirit correction fluid.
    5. After the above, retype using a strip of unused carbon.

4.3. Using with a Thermal Copier

For automated design transfer using a thermal copier:

  1. Preparing the Tattoo Transfer Paper Unit:
    1. Insert the original copy (faxable) face up, between the transfer carbon sheet and the backing sheet, ensuring the original is all the way to the perforation.
    2. Remove the protective tissue paper.
    3. The unit is now ready for exposure in a thermal processing machine.
  2. Exposing the Master Sheet:
    1. Set the thermal processing machine initially at a mid-range exposure level and adjust for optimum imaging quality. Sustained use of a thermal processing machine may require subsequent adjustments.
    2. Insert the thermal master unit into the processing machine with the stub edge first and the master paper up.
    3. Starting at a corner, slowly peel the master paper from the carbon sheet. For best results, separate as soon as possible.
    4. Detach the master paper from the unit at the stub perforation.
    5. The thermal master unit is now ready for duplicating.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and effectiveness of your transfer paper:

  • Store unused sheets in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity.
  • Keep the paper flat to prevent creasing or damage to the carbon layer.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues during the transfer process, consider the following:

  • Faint or Incomplete Transfer: Ensure sufficient pressure is applied when transferring the design to the skin (at least 3 seconds). Verify that the stencil ointment or transfer media is applied evenly and adequately.
  • Smudged Transfer: Allow the transferred design to dry completely on the skin before touching or working on it. Ensure the skin is clean and free of oils or lotions before applying stencil ointment.
  • Poor Thermal Copier Output: Adjust the exposure level on your thermal processing machine. Ensure the paper is inserted correctly, with the original copy facing up and the master paper up.
