5. Setup

5.1. Physical Installation

  1. Choose a Location: Select a suitable location for installation, considering the desired field of view, lighting conditions, and proximity to network cabling. The camera is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
  2. Mounting: Secure the camera to a wall or ceiling using the provided mounting screws and wall plugs. Ensure the mounting surface is stable.
  3. Cable Connection: Connect an Ethernet cable from your PoE switch or PoE injector to the camera's RJ45 port. Use the waterproof connector for outdoor installations to protect the connection from moisture.
  4. Angle Adjustment: Adjust the camera's pan (-90° ~ 90°), tilt (0° ~ 75°), and rotation (0-355°) to achieve the desired viewing angle.

5.2. Initial Network Configuration

The camera supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), simplifying power and data transmission. Upon connection to a PoE-enabled network, the camera will power on.

  1. Discover the Camera: Use a network discovery tool (e.g., SADP Tool for Hikvision OEM products) on a computer connected to the same network to find the camera's IP address.
  2. Activate the Camera: If the camera is new, it may require activation by setting a strong password. Follow the prompts in the discovery tool or web interface.
  3. Access Web Interface: Open a web browser and enter the camera's IP address. Log in using the newly set password.
  4. Configure Network Settings: Within the web interface, navigate to network settings to configure a static IP address (recommended for stable operation) or verify DHCP settings.

6. Operating

6.1. Live View and Monitoring

Once configured, you can access the camera's live video feed through its web interface, a compatible NVR/DVR, or third-party software (e.g., Blue Iris, Synology, ONVIF-compatible VMS).

6.2. Recording and Storage

  • Micro SD Card: Insert a Micro SD card (up to 128GB) into the camera's slot for local storage. Configure recording schedules and events via the web interface.
