4.2. Accessing the Web User Interface (WebUI)

The devices are pre-paired from the factory. If you need to configure them or re-pair them, follow these steps:

  1. Connect your computer directly to the LAN port of one CPE2200 device using a network cable, or connect to its default WiFi SSID (usually 'Wireless 2.4G' or 'Wireless 5.8G' with password '66666666').
  2. Configure your computer's network adapter to use a static IP address within the same subnet as the CPE (e.g., 192.168.188.18, subnet mask 255.255.255.0). The default IP address for the CPE is typically 192.168.188.253.
  3. Open a web browser and enter the default IP address (192.168.188.253) in the address bar.
  4. Enter the default password (usually 'admin') to log in.

4.3. Manual Pairing (if needed)

If the devices lose their pairing or are reset, you can manually pair them:

  1. Access the WebUI for one of the devices.
  2. Navigate to the 'Wizard' or 'Operation Mode' section.
  3. Select 'Repeater Mode' for one device.
  4. In the Repeater Settings, search for the WiFi signal of the other CPE device. You may need to enter the MAC address of the other device.
  5. Click 'Next' and wait for the device to restart.
  6. After successful pairing, one device will operate in AP mode and the other in Repeater mode. Only one device needs to be configured for pairing; the other will automatically connect.

5. Operation Modes

The CPE2200 supports various operation modes to suit different networking needs:

  • AP Mode: The device acts as a wireless access point, broadcasting a WiFi signal.
  • Repeater Mode: Extends the range of an existing WiFi network.
  • Gateway Mode: Functions as a router, providing internet access via ADSL/Cable Modem.
  • WISP Mode: Connects wirelessly to an ISP access point and shares the internet connection.
  • WDS Mode (Wireless Distribution System): Allows wireless bridging between multiple access points.

5.1. Typical Applications

The CPE2200 is versatile for various long-range wireless applications:

  • Point-to-Point WiFi Extension: Extend your network to a second building. One CPE acts as the 'Master Bridge' connected to your main router, and the other as the 'Slave Bridge' in the remote building.
  • Point-to-Point Surveillance Camera Connection: Connect IP cameras in a remote location to your DVR/NVR system. The 'Master Bridge' connects to your surveillance system, and the 'Slave Bridge' connects to the cameras.

6. Maintenance

6.1. General Care

  • Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Ensure the protective cover for the ports is securely closed to maintain weather resistance.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures beyond its operating range (-40℃ to 55℃).

6.2. Firmware Upgrade

Regularly check for firmware updates on the KuWFi official website to ensure optimal performance and security. Firmware can be upgraded via the 'Manage' section in the WebUI.

6.3. Reset to Factory Defaults

If you encounter persistent issues or forget your login credentials, you can reset the device to factory defaults by pressing and holding the 'Reset' button for approximately 15 seconds while the device is powered on. This will erase all custom configurations.

7. Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter:

  • Device not powering on: Ensure the PoE adapter is correctly connected to the WAN port and plugged into a working power outlet. Check the network cable for damage.
  • Cannot access WebUI (192.168.188.253):
    • Verify your computer's IP address is set to a static IP within the 192.168.188.x subnet (e.g., 192.168.188.18).
    • Ensure your computer is directly connected to the CPE's LAN port or its default WiFi network.
    • Try clearing your browser's cache or using a different browser.
    • If the device was previously configured, it might have a different IP. Perform a factory reset if necessary.
  • Devices not pairing/communicating:
    • Ensure both devices are powered on and their LEDs indicate proper function.
    • Confirm one device is set to AP mode and the other to Repeater mode (or Super WDS for point-to-multi-point).
    • Perform a manual pairing as described in Section 4.3.
    • Check for physical obstructions between the devices and ensure they are aligned for optimal signal.
  • Poor signal strength or unstable connection:
    • Adjust the physical alignment of the devices to ensure they are pointing directly at each other.
    • Reduce the distance between devices if possible.
    • Check for sources of interference (e.g., other wireless devices, large metal objects).
    • In the WebUI, navigate to 'WiFi' -> 'Advanced' and adjust '2G Distance' or '5G Distance' settings to match your actual deployment distance.
  • Internet access issues after setup:
    • Verify the 'Master Bridge' is correctly connected to your main router and receiving an internet connection.
    • Check the IP Mode settings under 'Network' in the WebUI. If your main router provides DHCP, ensure the CPE is set to 'Get IP From Gateway' or 'Get IP From AC'. If you use static IPs, ensure they are correctly configured and do not conflict with other devices on your network.
