4.3 Pressure-Fit Installation (Temporary Use)

This method is suitable for doorways or areas where drilling is not desired, and for occasional use. A solid door frame or sturdy wall is required to hold the gate securely. The gate is held in place by pressure against the walls.

  1. Assemble the gate to the approximate width of your opening.
  2. Position the gate within the opening.
  3. Adjust the tension screws on both sides until the gate is firmly secured by pressure against the walls. Ensure it is stable and cannot be easily pushed over.

4.4 Screw-Mount Installation (Permanent Use, Recommended for Stairs)

This method provides the most secure installation and is mandatory for use at the top or bottom of stairs. It involves drilling into the wall or door frame.

  1. Assemble the gate to the desired width.
  2. Position the gate in the opening and mark the drilling points for the wall brackets.
  3. Drill pilot holes and insert wall plugs if necessary.
  4. Attach the wall brackets securely to the wall/frame using the provided screws.
  5. Mount the gate onto the installed wall brackets, ensuring it is level and operates smoothly.

5. Operating Instructions

The Badabulle Deco Pop gate features an ergonomic safety handle designed for easy adult operation while maintaining child security.

5.1 Opening the Screw-Mounted Gate

When screw-mounted, the gate functions as a swing gate. It can be opened with one hand in both directions.

  1. Locate the safety handle mechanism.
  2. Press the release button or slide the latch on the handle.
  3. Lift the gate slightly and swing it open in the desired direction.
  4. To close, swing the gate back into the frame until the latch engages securely. Always ensure the gate is properly latched after passing through.

5.2 Opening the Pressure-Fit Gate (Removable Barrier)

When pressure-fit, the gate acts as a removable barrier. It does not swing open but is lifted out of the way.

  1. Locate the safety handle mechanism.
  2. Press the release button or slide the latch on the handle.
  3. Lift the entire gate upwards to disengage it from the pressure mounts.
  4. To replace, align the gate with the pressure mounts and push down until it is securely seated.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your baby gate.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the wooden and metal surfaces with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the finish or materials.
  • Inspections: Periodically check all screws, bolts, and mounting points to ensure they are tight and secure. For pressure-fit gates, verify that the pressure remains adequate.
  • Damage: If any part of the gate becomes damaged, bent, or broken, discontinue use immediately and replace the affected components or the entire gate. Do not attempt to repair damaged parts with non-original components.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Badabulle Deco Pop gate, refer to the following common solutions:

  • Gate feels loose or unstable:
    - For pressure-fit gates: Tighten the tension adjustment screws until the gate is firmly secured. Ensure the mounting surfaces are clean and provide good friction.
    - For screw-mounted gates: Check all wall bracket screws and gate attachment points. Tighten any loose screws. Ensure wall plugs are properly installed if used.
  • Gate is difficult to open or close:
    - Check for any obstructions in the gate's path or around the latch mechanism.
    - Ensure the gate is installed level and plumb. Misalignment can cause binding.
    - Apply a small amount of silicone spray to moving parts of the latch if necessary, avoiding contact with child-accessible areas.
  • Gate does not fit the opening:
    - Re-measure your opening. The gate is designed for widths between 63 cm and 106 cm. If your opening is outside this range, the gate is not suitable.
  • Missing parts:
    - Refer to the package contents section and contact Badabulle customer support if any essential parts are missing.
