3. Setup
3.1. Battery Installation
The Zoom H4n Pro operates on 2 AA batteries. To install or replace batteries:
- Locate the battery compartment on the rear of the device.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert 2 AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
3.2. SD Card Insertion
The device records directly to SD/SDHC cards. A memory card is essential for operation.
- Locate the SD card slot on the side of the recorder, typically protected by a rubber flap.
- Open the flap.
- Insert an SD or SDHC card (up to 32 GB) into the slot with the metal contacts facing down and the notched corner aligned correctly. Push until it clicks into place.
- Close the rubber flap to protect the slot.
3.3. Powering On/Off

- Locate the "HOLD/POWER" switch on the right side of the device.
- Slide and hold the switch downwards towards the power icon (⏻).
