3. Setup and Installation

Tools Required:

• Torque Wrench
• 8mm Hex Key (for crank bolt)
• Appropriate Bottom Bracket Tool (specific to your DUB bottom bracket)

• Threadlocker (e.g., Loctite 242, if specified by SRAM for certain bolts)

Pre-Installation Checks:

1. Ensure your frame's bottom bracket shell is clean and faced correctly.
2. Confirm you have the correct SRAM DUB bottom bracket installed for your frame.
3. Verify that your direct mount chainring or spider is compatible with the SRAM 8-bolt interface.

Installation Steps:

1. Install Chainring/Spider: If not already installed, attach your direct mount chainring or spider to the right crank arm (with integrated spindle) using the 8-bolt interface. Apply threadlocker to the bolts as per SRAM's recommendations and torque them to the specified value (typically 10-12 Nm).
2. Grease Spindle: Apply a thin layer of high-quality grease to the DUB spindle.
3. Install Right Crank Arm: Carefully slide the right crank arm (with chainring/spider) through the DUB bottom bracket from the drive side of the bicycle.
4. Install Left Crank Arm: Align the splines of the left crank arm with the splines on the spindle. Push the left crank arm onto the spindle until it seats fully.
5. Tighten Crank Bolt: Insert the 8mm hex key into the main crank bolt on the non-drive side. Tighten the crank bolt to the specified torque value. For SRAM DUB cranksets, this is typically 54 Nm (480 in-lb). Ensure the crank arms are securely fastened and spin freely without play.
6. Final Check: Rotate the crankset to ensure smooth operation and check for any lateral play.
