Model: 144964 | Brand: vidaXL

1. Product Overview

The vidaXL Roller Shutter is a pre-built, exterior-mounted solution designed for both new and existing buildings. Constructed from high-quality aluminium sheets filled with polyurethane foam, it features special two-layer paint coatings (system PU/PA) for enhanced resistance to abrasion and weathering.

This roller shutter is engineered to improve building energy efficiency, helping to reduce heating costs in winter and providing a cooling effect in summer. It also offers increased privacy and sound insulation.

  • Keep hands and loose clothing clear of the shutter mechanism during operation to avoid pinching or entanglement.
  • Do not allow children to operate the shutter unsupervised.
  • Regularly inspect the operating cord and mechanism for signs of wear or damage. Replace worn parts immediately.
  • In case of strong winds, ensure the shutter is either fully open or fully closed to prevent damage.

4. Setup and Installation

This roller shutter is designed for exterior mounting. It can be installed in two primary ways:

  1. Inside the window frame recess: The shutter box and guide channels are fitted within the existing window opening.
  2. Directly on the wall: The shutter box is mounted above the window opening, and guide channels are affixed to the wall on either side of the window.

For manual operation, a single hole is required in the window frame or wall to allow the operating cord to pass into the property. Ensure all mounting surfaces are clean, level, and structurally sound before installation.

5. Operating Instructions

The vidaXL Roller Shutter is operated manually using the provided cord and manual driver.

  • To lower the shutter: Gently pull the operating cord downwards. The shutter will descend smoothly. Control the speed of descent by maintaining a steady pull.
  • To raise the shutter: Pull the operating cord upwards. The shutter will retract into the shutter box. Continue pulling until the shutter is fully open or at your desired height.
  • To stop the shutter at an intermediate position: Release the cord slowly. The internal mechanism is designed to hold the shutter in place.

Avoid forcing the cord or mechanism. If the shutter encounters resistance, check for obstructions in the guide channels.

6. Maintenance

The vidaXL Roller Shutter is designed for low maintenance due to its durable materials and construction. Regular cleaning will help maintain its appearance and functionality.

  • Cleaning: The aluminium sheet with PU/PA coating is easy to clean. Use a soft cloth dampened with mild soap and water to wipe down the shutter slats and guide channels. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the guide channels for any debris (leaves, dirt, insects) that might obstruct the shutter's movement. Clear any obstructions carefully.
  • Mechanism Check: Occasionally check the operating cord and manual driver for any signs of fraying, wear, or damage. Ensure the cord moves freely through the tape guide.

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and smooth operation of your roller shutter.
