2. Setup and Initial Use

The Zenport TC122 tally counter requires no assembly or batteries. It is ready for immediate use upon removal from its packaging.

2.1 Holding the Counter

Place your index finger through the metal finger ring located at the top of the counter. This provides a secure grip and allows for comfortable operation with your thumb.

2.2 Initial Reset

Before starting a new count, ensure the display reads '0000'. If not, rotate the black reset knob on the right side of the counter clockwise until all digits return to zero.

3. Operating the Tally Counter

3.1 Counting

To increment the count, press the large silver button located on the top of the counter. Each press will advance the four-digit display by one unit. The counter can register up to 9999 before cycling back to 0000.

3.2 Resetting the Counter

To clear the current count and reset the display to '0000', rotate the black knob on the right side of the counter in a clockwise direction until all digits are at zero. This action does not affect the internal mechanism or future counts.

4. Care and Maintenance

The Zenport TC122 is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the counter with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust or smudges. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the finish.
  • Storage: Store the counter in a dry environment away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
  • Avoid Impact: While durable, avoid dropping the counter or subjecting it to strong impacts, which could affect its internal mechanism.

5. Troubleshooting

Most issues with the Zenport TC122 are minor and easily resolved.

  • Counter Not Advancing: Ensure the button is being pressed fully. If the issue persists, gently tap the counter to dislodge any internal obstruction. If still unresponsive, the internal mechanism may be damaged.
  • Reset Knob Not Working: Ensure the knob is rotated fully in the correct direction (clockwise) until all digits reset. If it feels stiff, apply gentle, consistent pressure. Do not force it excessively.
  • Digits Misaligned: This is typically a cosmetic issue and does not affect counting accuracy. If it impacts readability, ensure the counter has not been subjected to impact.
