4. Operating Instructions

4.1. FHD 1080P Recording & 170° Wide Angle

The CHORTAU Dash Cam records in Super High Resolution 1080P FHD with a 170° wide-angle lens. This ensures clear capture of license plates and road signs during both day and night, providing comprehensive coverage of the road ahead.

4.2. Seamless Loop Recording

When the memory card reaches its storage limit, new recordings will automatically overwrite the oldest, unlocked videos. This ensures continuous recording without manual intervention. You can set loop recording intervals to 1, 2, or 3 minutes.

4.3. G-Sensor (Emergency Lock)

The built-in G-sensor automatically detects sudden shakes or collisions. When triggered, it locks the current video footage to prevent it from being overwritten by loop recording. This ensures critical accident evidence is securely saved.

4.4. 24 Hours Parking Monitor

This feature allows the dash cam to automatically turn on and record a short video if it detects a collision while your car is parked, even when the engine is off. This provides continuous surveillance for your vehicle.

4.5. Wide Dynamic Range (WDR)

WDR technology helps the camera perform optimally in various lighting conditions by balancing exposure. This ensures clear video quality in both bright and dark areas of the frame, such as when exiting a tunnel or driving against strong sunlight.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your dash cam, please follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Clean the Lens: Regularly clean the camera lens with a soft, lint-free cloth to ensure clear recordings. Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the lens.
  • Format SD Card: Periodically format the Micro SD card (e.g., once a month) to prevent data corruption and ensure smooth loop recording. Back up any important videos before formatting.
  • Temperature Control: Avoid exposing the dash cam to extreme temperatures (very hot or very cold) for extended periods, as this can affect battery life and internal components.
  • Secure Mounting: Ensure the suction cup mount is securely attached to the windshield to prevent the camera from falling during driving. Re-attach if it becomes loose.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your CHORTAU Dash Cam, please refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:

  • Camera Not Turning On:
    • Check if the car charger is properly connected to both the dash cam and the car's power socket.
    • Ensure the car's power socket is active (some vehicles require the ignition to be on).
    • Try a different USB cable or car charger if available.
  • Recording Stops or Freezes:
    • Ensure you are using a high-speed (Class 10 or higher) Micro SD card.
    • Format the Micro SD card regularly to clear corrupted files.
    • Check if the card is full; loop recording should manage this, but manual formatting can resolve issues.
  • Poor Video Quality:
    • Clean the camera lens.
    • Ensure the protective film has been removed from the lens.
    • Check video resolution settings in the camera menu.
  • Parking Monitor Not Working:
    • Ensure the parking monitor feature is enabled in the camera settings.
    • The camera requires a continuous power supply for 24-hour monitoring. If your car's power socket turns off with the ignition, an optional hardwire kit (sold separately) may be needed.
