Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and effective use of your Godox MS300 Studio Flash Strobe. Please read this manual thoroughly before operation to ensure proper functionality and to prevent damage to the unit or injury to yourself. Keep this manual for future reference.

Safety Precautions

  • Do not disassemble or modify this product.
  • Keep the unit dry. Do not handle with wet hands or immerse in water.
  • Do not use in the presence of flammable gases or liquids.
  • Ensure the power supply voltage matches the unit's requirements (AC110-120V/60Hz).
  • Always remove the lamp cover before using the flash.
  • The modeling lamp can become very hot. Avoid touching it immediately after use.
  • Disconnect power before cleaning or maintenance.

Setup

1. Unpacking and Component Identification

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all items listed below are present:

  • Godox MS300 Studio Flash Strobe (x1)
  • Power Cord (x1)
  • Lamp Cover (x1)

2. Installing the Flash Tube and Modeling Lamp

  1. Ensure the flash unit is powered off and unplugged.
  2. Carefully insert the flash tube into its socket, ensuring it is seated firmly.
  3. Insert the 150W modeling lamp into its socket.
  4. Attach the protective lamp cover when the unit is not in use or during transport. Always remove the lamp cover before operating the flash.

3. Mounting the Flash Unit

The MS300 features a standard light stand mount. Securely attach the flash unit to a sturdy light stand. The unit also includes a Bowens mount for attaching various light modifiers.

4. Power Connection

Connect the power cord to the flash unit and then to a suitable AC power outlet (AC110-120V/60Hz). Turn on the power switch located on the rear panel of the unit.

Operation

1. Control Panel Overview

The rear panel of the MS300 features a digital display and various buttons and dials for controlling flash functions. Refer to the diagram below for component identification.

2. Power Output Adjustment

Rotate the power adjustment dial to increase or decrease the flash output. The power output stability is maintained within 2% tolerance for consistent results.

3. Modeling Lamp Control

The 150W modeling lamp can be adjusted from 5% to 100% output. Use the dedicated button or dial to control its intensity. The modeling lamp assists in visualizing the light's effect before firing the flash.

4. Wireless Control (2.4G Wireless X System)

The MS300 integrates with the Godox 2.4G Wireless X System. This allows remote control of power output, modeling lamp, and buzzer functions using compatible triggers such as Godox X1, XT16, XPro, or X2 triggers. The system supports 16 groups and 32 channels.

5. Sync Function and Anti-Preflash

The MS300 features an anti-preflash function, enabling synchronization with cameras that emit a preflash. Connect your camera via the sync port if not using wireless triggers.

6. Recycle Time

The flash unit has a recycle time of 0.1-1.3 seconds, allowing for efficient shooting. High-capacity capacitors contribute to improved shooting efficiency.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the flash unit. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the unit in a dry, dust-free environment when not in use. Ensure the lamp cover is installed to protect the flash tube and modeling lamp.
  • Lamp Replacement: If the flash tube or modeling lamp needs replacement, ensure the unit is unplugged and cooled down. Refer to the safety precautions before handling.
