3. Setup

3.1. Battery Installation for Remote Control

The remote control requires 2 x AAA batteries (not included). To install:

  1. Open the battery compartment on the back of the remote control by loosening the screw.
  2. Insert 2 x AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity as indicated inside the compartment.
  3. Replace the battery compartment cover and tighten the screw.

3.2. Charging the Robot Puppy

The robot puppy has a built-in rechargeable battery. Ensure the puppy is fully charged before first use.

  1. Switch off the puppy.
  2. Insert the charging plug into the socket located in the puppy's mouth.
  3. Insert the USB plug into a USB socket (e.g., computer, wall adapter). The charging process will begin.
  4. Unplug the charging plug once the charging indicator turns off, signifying that charging is complete.

Tip: The puppy can charge for about half an hour per every one hour of play. Before recharging, wait 10-15 minutes for the battery to cool down.

4. Operating Modes

The Smart Puppy offers multiple interactive modes. To switch between modes, short press the puppy's nose. The LED eyes will change color to indicate the current mode:

  • Blue Eyes: Gesture Mode
  • Red Eyes: Adventure Mode
  • Purple Eyes: Program Mode

Wait for the puppy to make a "yap" sound to confirm the mode change before pressing any remote control buttons.

4.1. Remote Control Mode

Use the remote control to command the puppy's movements and actions. The remote features paw-print buttons for various commands:

  • Forward/Backward: Moves the puppy in the specified direction.
  • Turn Left/Right: Changes the puppy's direction.
  • Step Forward: Initiates a stepping motion.
  • Jump: Makes the puppy jump.
  • Sit Down/Lie Down: Commands the puppy to sit or lie down.
  • Stand Up: Makes the puppy stand.
  • Dance: Activates a dance routine with music.

4.2. Gesture Mode (Blue Eyes)

In Gesture Mode, the puppy will follow your hand movements. Move your hand in front of its sensors to guide it:

  • Hand Forward: Puppy moves forward.
  • Hand Backward: Puppy moves backward.
  • Hand Left/Right: Puppy turns left or right.

4.3. Adventure Mode (Red Eyes)

In Adventure Mode, the puppy uses its built-in sensors to detect and avoid obstacles. It will autonomously navigate its surroundings, making playtime exciting and unpredictable.

4.4. Program Mode (Purple Eyes)

Unleash your creativity with Program Mode. Use the included program keys (bones) to create custom action sequences for your puppy. Each bone represents a specific action.

  1. Insert a program key into the puppy's mouth. The puppy will register the action.
  2. Repeat with up to 30 program keys to build a sequence.
  3. Press the puppy's nose to execute the programmed sequence.

    • Do not press any remote control buttons during the programming sequence.
