Setup

Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance of your Landroid. Follow these steps carefully.

1. Charging Base Placement

Select a suitable location for the charging base. It should be:

  • Within 32 feet (approximately 9.75 meters) from a power outlet.
  • In a shaded area, if possible, to protect the Landroid from direct sunlight.
  • On flat ground to ensure effective docking.
  • Allow at least 32 inches (approximately 81 cm) straight path in front and 12 inches (approximately 30 cm) straight path on the exit side.

2. Perimeter Wire Installation

The perimeter wire defines the mowing area for your Landroid. Secure the base to the ground using the supplied screws and Allen key.

  • Strip one end of the perimeter wire with scissors.
  • Insert the stripped end into the red left clamp on the charging base and pass the wire through the guide.
  • Secure the wire to the ground using pegs, placed approximately 32 inches (approximately 81 cm) apart. Ensure the wire is flush with or as close to the ground as possible.
  • Use the supplied gauge to measure the distance from the boundary wire to the edge of your yard. Keep the wire at 10.2 inches (approximately 26 cm) from steps or hard edges, and 4 inches (approximately 10 cm) from soft edges.
  • To protect flowerbeds, ponds, or tree roots, surround them with the boundary wire. Depart the edge at a right angle to reach the area to be protected, then surround the area, keeping 26 cm distance, until you close the island. Always lay the wire clockwise. Failing to do so will make the mower drive into the island. Return to the edge of the lawn following the same path.
  • For 90-degree corners facing the inside of your lawn, use the Bertelsen ruler to help Landroid make perfect turns and avoid obstacles.
  • Once the boundary wire returns to the base, pass it through the guide up to the clamp. Strip the end of the wire and insert it into the black right clamp. Close the cover.

3. Connecting Power

Connect the power cord to the AC/DC transformer and the AC plug to a power outlet. If everything is fine, the LED on the charging base will light green. If there's a trouble in the loop, such as a broken wire or wire ends not properly clamped, the LED will turn red. Check that everything is fine and see the FAQ section if the problem persists.

4. Battery Installation & Initial Charge

Open the rear compartment of the Landroid and insert the PowerShare battery into the slot until it clicks. Place the Landroid on the charging base, ensuring contact between the metal prongs on the Landroid and the charging base. The LED will blink green during charging. Once the battery is fully charged, the LED will turn solid green. The Landroid is then ready for its first test drive.

Operating Instructions

Your Landroid is designed for autonomous operation, but understanding its features will enhance your experience.

1. App Control & Scheduling

Control your Landroid from your smartphone using the dedicated mobile app. The app allows you to:

  • Set customized mowing schedules based on your lawn's size and conditions.
  • Receive important alerts and notifications.
  • Keep the Landroid's software up-to-date.
  • Track its progress and adjust settings remotely.

2. Mowing Coverage & Efficiency

The Landroid L WR153 is capable of cutting lawns up to 1/2 acre. Its patented AIA technology enables it to navigate narrow passages and mow in a random algorithm for comprehensive coverage. It mows frequently, cutting a small amount off the top during each cycle, which is beneficial for lawn health.

3. Edge Cutting & Obstacle Avoidance

The 9-inch offset 3-blade cutting disc allows the Landroid to cut closer to the perimeter of your lawn, reducing the need for manual trimming. It is equipped to tackle obstacles; if it encounters one, it will bump it and back away. You can also define 'Off Limits' areas to exclude specific zones from mowing.

4. Weather Resistance & Slopes

The Landroid is weatherproof and includes a rain sensor. When rain is detected, it will return to its charging base to wait until the grass is dry, preventing damage to your lawn from mowing wet grass. It can also navigate slopes up to 20 degrees.

5. Automatic Recharging

When the battery level is low, the Landroid automatically returns to its charging base to recharge, ensuring continuous operation without manual intervention.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your Landroid.

1. Blade Replacement

The Landroid uses small, razor-like blades for cutting. These blades should be replaced periodically for optimal cutting performance. The mower comes with replacement blades, and the process is simple, requiring only a Phillips head screwdriver.

2. General Cleaning

Keep the underside of your Landroid clean from grass clippings and debris to ensure smooth operation and prevent buildup that could affect cutting quality or sensor function.

Troubleshooting

Here are some common issues and their solutions:

  • Red LED on Charging Base: Indicates a problem with the perimeter wire loop (e.g., broken wire, improperly clamped ends). Inspect the wire for damage and ensure connections are secure.
  • Mower Getting Stuck: Initially, minor adjustments to the perimeter wire might be needed to prevent the mower from getting caught on uneven ground or obstacles. Ensure the wire is laid correctly around all features.
  • Mower Lifted Error: If the Landroid encounters a significant slope or obstacle that causes it to lift, it will stop and display an error. Adjust the boundary wire or add physical barriers if necessary.
  • Mower Outside Perimeter Wire: This error occurs if the mower crosses the boundary. Check the wire's placement and ensure it's securely pegged to the ground, especially in areas where the mower might push it up.
  • App Connectivity Issues: Ensure your Landroid is within Wi-Fi range and your smartphone has a stable internet connection. Restarting the app or the Landroid may resolve minor connectivity problems.
