Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Juskys Corner Basic Galvanized Metal 5-Shelf Corner Storage Unit. This manual provides essential information for the safe and correct assembly, operation, and maintenance of your new storage unit. Please read these instructions carefully before assembly and retain them for future reference.

Safety Instructions

  • Weight Capacity: Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of 175 kg per shelf or 875 kg total for the entire unit. Distribute weight evenly across shelves.
  • Stable Surface: Always assemble and place the unit on a flat, stable, and level surface to prevent tipping.
  • Proper Assembly: Ensure all components are correctly assembled and securely interlocked as described in the assembly section. Incorrect assembly can lead to instability and injury.
  • Avoid Climbing: Do not climb on the shelving unit. It is not designed for climbing and may tip over, causing serious injury.
  • Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the unit during assembly.
  • Sharp Edges: Handle metal components with care during assembly to avoid cuts. Wearing protective gloves is recommended.
  • Wall Anchoring (Optional): For added stability, especially in areas prone to earthquakes or if heavy items are stored on upper shelves, consider anchoring the unit to a wall (anchoring hardware not included).

Package Contents

Before beginning assembly, please verify that all parts are present and undamaged. If any parts are missing or damaged, do not proceed with assembly and contact customer support.

Setup and Assembly

This shelving unit features an interlocking system for quick and easy assembly without the need for screws or drilling. Two people are recommended for assembly.

  1. Prepare the Area: Clear a spacious, flat, and clean area for assembly. Unpack all components and lay them out.
  2. Attach Plastic Feet: Slide the plastic feet onto the bottom ends of the vertical posts. These protect your floor and provide stability.

  3. Assemble Lower Frame Sections: Begin by connecting the shorter vertical posts with the horizontal beams using the interlocking system. Ensure the tabs on the beams fully engage with the slots on the posts. Gently tap with a rubber mallet (not included) if needed to secure connections.

  4. Insert Lower Shelves: Once the lower frame is stable, carefully place the MDF/particle board shelves onto the assembled horizontal beams. Ensure they sit flush and are fully supported.
  5. Assemble Upper Frame Sections: Connect the remaining vertical posts to the top of the lower frame using the same interlocking method. Then, attach the remaining horizontal beams to form the upper sections.
  6. Insert Remaining Shelves: Place the remaining shelves onto the upper horizontal beams.
  7. Adjust Shelf Height: The shelves are height-adjustable. To change a shelf's position, carefully lift the shelf, disengage the beams from the posts, reposition the beams to the desired height, and re-engage them. Ensure all four corners of the shelf are at the same height.

Usage Guidelines

  • Load Distribution: Always distribute items evenly across the shelves. Avoid placing all heavy items on one side or one shelf.
  • Weight Limits: Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity of 175 kg per shelf or 875 kg for the entire unit. Overloading can cause structural damage or collapse.
  • Placement: This corner unit is designed to fit snugly into a corner, maximizing space efficiency. Ensure it is placed against solid walls for optimal stability.
  • Stability: Periodically check the stability of the unit, especially after moving it or rearranging items.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the metal frame and shelves with a damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the galvanized finish or shelf material.
  • Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect the unit for any signs of wear, loose connections, or damage. Tighten any loose parts if applicable (though this unit is screw-free, ensure interlocking tabs are fully engaged).
  • Rust Prevention: While galvanized metal offers good rust resistance, avoid prolonged exposure to excessive moisture to maintain its condition.

Troubleshooting

  • Unit is Unstable: Ensure the unit is on a level surface. Check all interlocking connections to confirm they are fully engaged. Verify that the plastic feet are properly installed. Redistribute items if the load is uneven.
  • Difficulty Assembling: Ensure you are using the correct components for each step. Sometimes, a rubber mallet can help secure tight connections. Refer to the assembly diagrams.
  • Shelf Does Not Sit Flat: Check that the horizontal beams supporting the shelf are correctly installed and at the same height on all sides. Ensure no debris is preventing the shelf from sitting flush.
