2.3 Programming for Other Devices (e.g., TV, Stereo)

While the remote works out-of-the-box for the Android TV Box, some users have reported success in programming certain buttons to control other devices like a TV or stereo. This functionality is not officially supported for all buttons or devices, but can be attempted as follows:

  1. Press and hold the "SET" button on the remote until the LED indicator light stays on.
  2. Press the button on the Ovitar remote that you wish to program (e.g., Power button for your TV). The LED will flash.
  3. Point your original TV/stereo remote control's infrared (IR) emitter directly at the IR emitter of the Ovitar remote (usually at the top).
  4. Press and hold the corresponding button on your original TV/stereo remote (e.g., Power button for your TV) until the LED on the Ovitar remote stays on steady. This indicates successful learning.
  5. Repeat for any other buttons you wish to program.
  6. Press the "SET" button again to exit programming mode. The LED will turn off.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your remote control, try the following solutions:

  • Remote Not Responding:
    • Ensure batteries are correctly installed with the correct polarity.
    • Replace old batteries with new ones.
    • Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote control and the Android TV Box's IR receiver.
    • Confirm you are within the effective operating range (typically up to 10 meters) and pointing the remote directly at the device.
  • Specific Buttons Not Working:
    • Check if the button is stuck or physically damaged.
    • If you attempted to program the button for another device, try resetting the remote by removing and reinserting batteries, then re-test with the Android TV Box.
  • Compatibility Issues:
    • Verify that your Android TV Box model is listed in the compatibility section (Section 1). This remote is not universally compatible with all Android TV Boxes.
