1. Introduction

3. Setup Instructions

3.1 Connecting the Phone

  1. Connect the coiled handset cord to the port on the left side of the phone base and to the handset.
  2. Connect the straight line cord to the "LINE" port on the back of the phone base and to your wall telephone jack.
  3. Ensure the phone is placed on a stable, flat desktop surface. This model is not designed for wall mounting.

3.2 Inserting Pictures into Memory Buttons

Each of the ten memory buttons (1-9, 0) can hold a 1" x 1" picture. To insert a picture:

  1. Gently lift the clear plastic cover on each memory button.
  2. Insert a 1" x 1" photo of the person or service you wish to associate with that button.
  3. Replace the clear plastic cover securely.

3.3 Programming Memory Numbers (One-Touch or Two-Touch)

The phone supports both one-touch and two-touch dialing for the picture memory buttons. The method depends on the "ONE TOUCH / NORM" switch setting on the back of the phone.

Important:

  • Ensure the "STORE" switch on the back of the phone is in the ON position before programming.
  • Memory numbers are retained even during power outages or if the phone is unplugged.

To Program a Memory Number:

  1. Lift the handset.
  2. Press the STORE button (located below the picture buttons).
  3. Dial the phone number you wish to store (up to 16 digits).
  4. Press the STORE button again.
  5. Press the desired picture memory button (1-9, 0) where you want to save the number.
  6. Hang up the handset.

After programming, move the "STORE" switch on the back of the phone to the OFF position to prevent accidental changes to stored numbers.

3.4 Adjusting Ringer and Handset Volume

On the back of the phone, locate the following switches (refer to Figure 2):

  • RINGER Switch: Adjust to HI (High), LO (Low), or OFF (Mute).
  • HANDSET VOLUME Switch: Adjust to VHI (Very High), HI (High), or MED (Medium) for receiving volume.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Making Calls

The method for making calls depends on the "ONE TOUCH / NORM" switch setting on the back of the phone (refer to Figure 2).

Normal Dialing Mode:

When the "ONE TOUCH / NORM" switch is set to NORM:

  1. Lift the handset.
  2. Dial the desired phone number using the numeric keypad.
  3. Wait for the call to connect.

One-Touch Dialing Mode (using Picture Buttons):

When the "ONE TOUCH / NORM" switch is set to ONE TOUCH:

  • Lift the handset.
  • Press the desired picture memory button (1-9, 0). The phone will automatically dial the stored number.
  • Note: In One-Touch Dialing Mode, standard numeric keypad dialing is disabled.

Two-Touch Dialing Mode (using Picture Buttons):

This mode is active regardless of the "ONE TOUCH / NORM" switch setting, allowing for quick dialing of stored numbers even in Normal Dialing Mode.

  1. Lift the handset.
  2. Press the MEMORY button (located below the picture buttons).
  3. Press the desired picture memory button (1-9, 0). The phone will automatically dial the stored number.

Using the 911 Emergency Button:

The red 911 button is pre-programmed for emergency calls. To use it:

  1. Lift the handset.
  2. Press the red 911 button. The phone will dial 911.

Note: The 911 button can be reprogrammed to a different emergency number if required, following the same steps as programming a regular memory number.

4.2 Receiving Calls

When an incoming call is detected, the phone's LED lights will flash, and the ringer will sound (if not set to OFF).

  1. Lift the handset to answer the call.
  2. To end the call, place the handset back on the base.

4.3 Special Functions

  • FLASH Key: Used for call waiting or to switch between calls if your service provider supports it. Press the FLASH button during a call.
  • REDIAL/P Key: Press this button to redial the last number called. The "P" indicates a pause function, which can be used during manual dialing.
  • MUTE Key: Press the MUTE button during a call to temporarily silence your microphone. The other party will not hear you, but you can still hear them. Press again to unmute.

5. Maintenance

  • Clean the phone's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Do not immerse the phone in water or expose it to excessive moisture.
  • Keep the phone away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Ensure the cords are not tangled or pinched to prevent damage.

6. Troubleshooting

  • No Dial Tone:
    • Check that all phone cords are securely connected to the phone base and the wall jack.
    • Ensure your telephone line service is active. Test with another phone if available.
  • Cannot Make Calls:
    • If using picture memory buttons, ensure the "STORE" switch on the back is in the OFF position after programming.
    • If in "ONE TOUCH" mode, you cannot use the numeric keypad for standard dialing. Switch to "NORM" mode for standard dialing.
    • Verify the phone number is correctly programmed if using memory dialing.
  • Memory Numbers Not Saving or Changing Accidentally:
    • Ensure the "STORE" switch on the back of the phone is in the ON position when programming.
    • After programming, move the "STORE" switch to the OFF position to protect stored numbers.
  • Poor Call Quality / Low Volume:
    • Adjust the "HANDSET VOLUME" switch on the back of the phone to a higher setting (VHI, HI).
    • Ensure the handset is properly positioned against your ear.
  • Phone Not Ringing:
    • Check the "RINGER" switch on the back of the phone. Ensure it is set to HI or LO, not OFF.
  • Not Compatible with VoIP:
    • This phone is not a SIP VOIP phone and will not work correctly if connected directly to a SIP VOIP network. It is designed for traditional landline connections or connections via a Cable TV/Internet modem that provides a standard phone line output.
