Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the grinder from its packaging. Retain the packaging for storage or in case of return.
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wipe the exterior of the grinder with a damp cloth. Clean the grinding chamber and lid with a soft brush or damp cloth. Ensure all parts are completely dry before assembly and use. Do not immerse the motor housing in water.
- Placement: Place the grinder on a stable, dry, and level surface. Ensure the power cord is not dangling where it can be pulled or tripped over.
Operating Instructions
General Operation
- Ensure the grinder is unplugged before adding ingredients.
- Fill the grinding chamber with the desired amount of coffee beans, spices, or herbs. Do not overfill; the capacity is designed for up to 8 cups of coffee beans.
- Place the clear lid securely onto the grinder. The safety mechanism prevents operation if the lid is not properly seated.
- Plug the grinder into a standard electrical outlet.
- Press and hold the one-touch pulse control button to begin grinding. Release the button to stop.
- Monitor the grinding process through the clear lid to achieve the desired consistency.
- Once grinding is complete, unplug the grinder from the outlet before removing the lid and emptying the contents.
Grinding Coffee Beans
The Salton grinder can grind coffee beans for up to 8 cups of coffee. The grinding time will determine the fineness of the grind:
- Coarse Grind: For French press or percolators (approx. 10-15 seconds).
- Medium Grind: For automatic drip coffee makers (approx. 15-20 seconds).
- Fine Grind: For espresso machines (approx. 20-25 seconds).
Use the pulse control to achieve precise grind levels. Grind only the amount of coffee needed for immediate use to ensure maximum freshness.

Grinding Spices and Herbs
This grinder is also suitable for grinding various dry spices and herbs. The high-speed stainless steel blades ensure quick and uniform results.
- Ensure the grinding chamber is clean and free of coffee residue before grinding spices or herbs to prevent flavor transfer.
- Add whole spices (e.g., peppercorns, star anise, cinnamon sticks) or dried herbs to the chamber.
- Use short pulses to achieve the desired consistency, from coarse to extra fine.

Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning will ensure optimal performance and longevity of your grinder.
- Always unplug the grinder before cleaning.
- Grinding Chamber and Blades: Use a small brush (e.g., a clean toothbrush or a brush specifically designed for grinders) to remove any residual grounds or particles from the grinding chamber and around the blades. Wipe with a damp cloth if necessary, then dry thoroughly.
- Lid: The clear lid can be washed with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before reattaching.
- Motor Housing: Wipe the exterior of the motor housing with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the motor housing in water or any other liquid.
- Storage: Store the grinder in a dry place with the lid securely in place.
