    • Place a large cup or container under the portafilter outlet (without coffee grounds) and under the steam wand.
    • Once the machine reaches operating temperature (indicator light stops flashing or turns solid), press the coffee brewing button (middle button) to run water through the system for about 30 seconds.
    • Turn the steam knob (if present, or activate steam function) to release steam through the wand for a few seconds to clear any air.
    • Repeat this process 2-3 times to thoroughly clean and prime the system.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Making Espresso

  1. Prepare the Machine: Ensure the water tank is filled and the machine is plugged in and powered on. Allow it to preheat until the coffee indicator light is stable.
  2. Prepare the Portafilter: Insert the double steel filter into the portafilter. Add finely ground espresso coffee. For a single shot, use one scoop; for a double shot, use two scoops. Tamp the coffee grounds evenly and firmly. Wipe any excess grounds from the rim of the portafilter.
  3. Attach Portafilter: Align the portafilter with the group head on the machine and twist it firmly to the right until it is securely locked in place.
  4. Place Cup(s): Place one or two espresso cups on the drip tray directly under the portafilter spouts. You can pre-warm your cups on the cup warming tray.

  6. Brew Espresso: Press the coffee brewing button (middle button). The machine will start extracting espresso. The water flow lock function allows you to stop the flow when your desired amount of coffee is reached by pressing the button again.
  7. Remove Portafilter: Once brewing is complete, carefully remove the portafilter by twisting it to the left. Dispose of the used coffee grounds.

5.2 Frothing Milk

  1. Prepare for Steam: Ensure the water tank is filled. Press the steam button (bottom button) to activate the steam function. Wait for the steam indicator light to become stable, indicating the machine has reached the correct temperature for steaming.
  2. Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to just below the spout.
  3. Purge Steam Wand: Position the steam wand over the drip tray and briefly open the steam knob to release any condensed water. Close the knob.
  4. Froth Milk: Immerse the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk. Open the steam knob fully. Move the pitcher up and down slowly to create foam. Once the milk reaches your desired temperature and consistency, close the steam knob and remove the pitcher.
  5. Clean Steam Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying. Briefly open the steam knob again to clear any milk from inside the wand.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your espresso machine.

  • Daily Cleaning:
    • Portafilter and Filter: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard coffee grounds, and rinse the portafilter and filter under running water.
    • Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the removable drip tray daily.
    • Steam Wand: Clean immediately after frothing milk as described in the operating instructions.
  • Water Tank: Clean the removable water tank weekly with warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and refill with fresh water.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  • Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits can build up in the machine, affecting performance. Descale your machine every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water. Use a commercial descaling solution specifically designed for coffee machines and follow the manufacturer's instructions. Run several cycles of clean water through the machine after descaling to rinse thoroughly.
