2. Safety Guidelines

Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries are powerful and can be dangerous if not handled correctly. Adhere strictly to the following safety precautions:

  • Never leave the battery unattended while charging. Always monitor the charging process.
  • Use only a genuine brand BALANCE CHARGER specifically designed for LiPo batteries. Do not use chargers not intended for LiPo chemistry or unverified brands.
  • Store the battery in a safety guard bag or a fireproof container when not in use or during charging.
  • Inspect the battery carefully for any damage (swelling, punctures, frayed wires, connector damage) before each use and charging. Do not use damaged batteries.
  • Do not overcharge the battery. The maximum voltage per cell should not exceed 4.2V. For a 6S battery, the total voltage should not exceed 25.2V.
  • Do not over-discharge the battery. The minimum voltage per cell should not fall below 3.2V. For a 6S battery, the total voltage should not fall below 19.2V. Over-discharging can permanently damage the battery.
  • If the battery runs out during use, immediately disconnect it from the Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) or device.
  • If a new battery does not hold a full charge or loses charge quickly, use a balance charger to charge and discharge it several times to cycle it.
  • Avoid exposing batteries to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or moisture.
  • Keep batteries away from children and pets.

4. Setup

Before the first use, ensure your battery is properly prepared:

  1. Initial Inspection: Carefully unbox the battery and inspect it for any physical damage.
  2. First Charge: Connect the battery to a compatible LiPo balance charger using the JST-XH balance plug and the EC5 discharge plug. Charge the battery at the suggested rate (0.5C-1C) until fully charged.
  3. Voltage Check: After charging, use a LiPo checker to verify that all cells are balanced and at 4.2V.

5. Operating Instructions

To operate your RC model with the Youme 6S LiPo battery:

  1. Installation: Securely install the battery in your RC model, ensuring it is properly balanced for flight or operation.
  2. Connection: Connect the EC5 discharge plug to your model's ESC.
  3. Usage: Operate your RC model as intended. Monitor battery voltage during use, especially if your model has telemetry.
  4. Discharge Limit: Avoid discharging the battery below 3.2V per cell to prevent irreversible damage and ensure battery longevity.

6. Maintenance and Storage

Proper maintenance and storage are crucial for extending the lifespan of your LiPo battery:

  • Storage Voltage: For long-term storage, charge or discharge the battery to its storage voltage, typically 3.8V-3.85V per cell.
  • Cool, Dry Place: Store batteries in a cool, dry environment, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and flammable materials.
  • Regular Checks: Periodically check stored batteries for any signs of swelling or damage.
  • Avoid Full Discharge: Do not store batteries in a fully discharged state, as this can lead to irreversible damage.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Youme 6S LiPo Battery, consider the following:

  • Battery Not Holding Charge / Quick Discharge: If a new battery does not hold a full charge or loses charge very quickly, it may require cycling. Use a balance charger to perform several charge and discharge cycles. Ensure your charger is calibrated and functioning correctly.
  • Swelling: If the battery appears swollen, immediately discontinue use and charging. Place it in a fireproof container and dispose of it according to local regulations for LiPo batteries. Swelling indicates internal damage and a potential fire hazard.
  • Overheating During Charge/Discharge: If the battery becomes excessively hot during charging or use, immediately disconnect it. This could indicate an internal short or overcurrent. Review your charging settings and the current draw of your RC model.
