1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your GALAX PRO QD6206R Orbital Sander. Please read these instructions carefully before using the tool and keep them for future reference. Proper use and maintenance will ensure optimal performance and extend the lifespan of your sander.
2. General Safety Instructions
Always follow basic safety precautions when using electric power tools to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury.
Work Area Safety
- Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
- Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
- Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
Electrical Safety
- Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way.
- Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
- Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
- Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling, or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges, or moving parts.
Personal Safety
- Always wear eye protection. Use a dust mask in dusty conditions. Hearing protection is recommended for prolonged use.
- Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts.
- Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool.
- Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
- Secure the workpiece. Use clamps or a vise to hold the workpiece. This is safer than using your hand and frees both hands to operate the tool.

5. Operating Instructions
Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including eye protection, a dust mask, and hearing protection during operation.
5.1 Power Connection and Speed Selection
- Connect the sander's power cord to a suitable 230V electrical outlet.
- Use the 6-speed control dial to select the desired sanding speed. Speed 1 is the lowest (6000 RPM) and Speed 6 is the highest (13000 RPM). Lower speeds are suitable for fine finishing and delicate materials, while higher speeds are for rapid material removal.

5.2 Starting and Sanding
- Place the sander flat on the workpiece surface before turning it on.
- Press the ON/OFF switch to start the sander.
- Apply light, even pressure to the sander. Allow the tool's weight and speed to do the work. Excessive pressure can reduce efficiency and damage the workpiece or tool.
- Move the sander in smooth, overlapping patterns across the surface. For wood, sanding with the grain is generally recommended for best results.
- The sander is suitable for various applications, including wood, metal, and plastic surfaces.

5.3 Stopping the Sander
- Press the ON/OFF switch to turn off the sander.
- Wait for the sanding pad to come to a complete stop before lifting the tool from the workpiece.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your sander. Always disconnect the tool from the power supply before performing any maintenance.
6.1 Emptying the Dust Bag
- Empty the dust bag frequently, especially when sanding large areas or producing a lot of dust. A full dust bag reduces the efficiency of the dust collection system.
- To empty, remove the dust bag from the dust port and shake out the collected dust. Reattach securely.
6.2 Cleaning the Tool
- After each use, wipe the exterior of the sander with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use solvents or harsh cleaning agents.
- Ensure that the ventilation slots are clear of dust and debris to prevent overheating. Use compressed air if necessary to clear stubborn blockages.
6.3 Sanding Pad Inspection
- Periodically inspect the sanding pad for wear, tears, or damage to the hook and loop surface. A worn pad will not hold sanding discs effectively.
- Replace the sanding pad if it shows signs of significant wear or damage.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your sander, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Sander does not start | No power supply Faulty ON/OFF switch | Check power cord and outlet Ensure switch is fully engaged; contact service if faulty |
| Poor sanding performance | Worn or incorrect sanding disc Full dust bag Excessive pressure | Replace sanding disc; use appropriate grit Empty dust bag Apply lighter, even pressure |
| Excessive vibration | Improperly attached or damaged sanding disc Loose components | Re-attach or replace sanding disc Check for loose screws; contact service if persistent |
| Excessive dust escaping | Dust bag not securely attached Dust bag full or clogged Blocked dust port | Ensure dust bag is firmly attached Empty and clean dust bag Clear any blockages from the dust port |
