2. Safety Information

5. Setup
5.1 Powering the Radio
Your ByronStatics AM66 radio can be powered by either the included AC adapter or 4 AA batteries (not included).
Using the AC Adapter:
- Locate the DC input jack on the back of the radio.
- Insert the small plug of the AC adapter into the DC input jack.
- Plug the AC adapter into a standard 120V/60Hz wall outlet.
Using Batteries:
- Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio.
- Insert 4 new 1.5V AA (UM3) batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Note: When the AC adapter is connected, battery power is automatically disconnected. Remove batteries if the radio will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Turning On/Off and Band Selection
- Locate the AM/FM/OFF knob on the top of the radio.
- Rotate the knob to 'AM' for Amplitude Modulation radio or 'FM' for Frequency Modulation radio. The radio will turn on.
- To turn off the radio, rotate the knob to 'OFF'.
6.2 Tuning to Stations
- Once the radio is powered on and a band (AM or FM) is selected, slowly rotate the large tuning dial on the front of the radio.
- Observe the frequency indicator on the dial as you tune. Stop when you hear your desired station clearly.
6.3 Volume Control
- The volume control knob is located on the top of the radio, opposite the AM/FM/OFF knob.
- Rotate the knob clockwise to increase the volume and counter-clockwise to decrease it.
6.4 Antenna Adjustment
- For FM reception: Extend the telescopic antenna fully and rotate it for optimal signal reception.
- For AM reception: The radio uses a built-in ferrite bar antenna. Rotate the entire radio for best AM reception. The telescopic antenna is not used for AM.
6.5 Earphone Use
For private listening, plug standard 3.5mm earphones (not included) into the earphone jack located on the side of the radio. The built-in speaker will automatically mute.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
Wipe the radio's exterior with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents as they may damage the finish.
7.2 Battery Replacement
When the radio's sound becomes weak or distorted, it is time to replace the batteries. Follow the instructions in Section 5.1 for battery installation.
7.3 Storage
If storing the radio for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent potential leakage and damage. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
