3. Setup and Configuration
3.1. Attaching the String
Properly attaching the string is essential for optimal yoyo performance. Follow these steps:
- Untwist one end of the yoyo string to form a loop.
- Place the loop over the bearing of the yoyo.
- Pull the string tight around the bearing.
- For responsive play, ensure the string is snug around the bearing. For unresponsive play, the string should be loose enough to allow the yoyo to spin freely without returning.

3.2. Switching Between Responsive and Unresponsive Modes
The MAGICYOYO V3 can be easily switched between responsive and unresponsive play modes by changing the bearing and axle.
Responsive Mode (Default)
In responsive mode, the yoyo returns to your hand with a gentle tug. This is achieved with the standard flat bearing and shorter axle (M4*10mm).
Unresponsive Mode (for Advanced Tricks)
To switch to unresponsive mode, you will need to replace the default flat bearing with the included 10-ball KK bearing and the shorter axle with the longer M4*12mm axle. In this mode, the yoyo will spin at the end of the string without returning, requiring a 'bind' trick to bring it back to your hand.
Steps to change bearing and axle:
- Unscrew the two halves of the yoyo.
- Use the bearing removal tool to carefully remove the existing bearing and axle.
- Insert the desired bearing (flat for responsive, KK for unresponsive) and corresponding axle (shorter for responsive, longer for unresponsive).
- Screw the yoyo halves back together securely.

4. Operating the Yoyo
The MAGICYOYO V3 supports various string tricks (1A, 3A, 5A) in its unresponsive configuration. For beginners, start with responsive play to master the basics.
4.1. Basic Throw (Responsive Play)
- Wrap the string around your middle finger, ensuring it's snug but not too tight.
- Hold the yoyo in your palm, with the string coming over the top.
- Throw the yoyo downwards with a strong, straight motion.
- When the yoyo reaches the end of the string, give a slight tug upwards to make it return to your hand.
4.2. Unresponsive Play and 'Bind' Trick
Once comfortable with responsive play, you can switch to unresponsive mode. In this mode, the yoyo will not return automatically. You must perform a 'bind' trick to bring it back.
A 'bind' involves creating friction between the string and the yoyo's bearing to make it catch and wind up. There are various bind techniques; online tutorials can provide detailed visual instructions.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your yoyo.
5.1. String Replacement
Yoyo strings wear out over time. Replace them regularly to prevent breakage during play. The package includes 12 replacement strings.
5.2. Bearing Care
Keep the bearing clean and free of debris. If the yoyo's responsiveness changes unexpectedly, the bearing may need cleaning or a small amount of yoyo lubricant. Adding a little lube can also customize the responsiveness level.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1. Yoyo Not Returning (Responsive Mode)
- Check if the string is properly wound around the bearing and snug.
- Ensure the correct (flat) bearing and shorter axle are installed for responsive play.
- The bearing might be dirty or dry. Clean it and apply a small amount of yoyo lubricant if necessary.
6.2. Yoyo Not Spinning Freely (Unresponsive Mode)
- Ensure the correct (KK) bearing and longer axle are installed for unresponsive play.
- Check if the string is too tight around the bearing. It should be loose enough to allow free spin.
- The bearing might be dirty or have too much lubricant, causing it to become responsive. Clean the bearing thoroughly.
