BROJEN BJ-960

Wired PIR Sensor Dual Passive Infrared Motion Detector User Manual

Brand: BROJEN | Model: BJ-960

1. Product Overview

The BROJEN BJ-960 Dual Passive Infrared Motion Detector is designed to detect human body infrared spectrum. When a human body moves within its detection range, the sensor receives the heat source signal. Internal circuits and unique lenses process this signal, effectively preventing false alarms from pets. This sensor is widely used in various settings such as banks, warehouses, and homes for enhanced security.

For a complete guide, please refer to the Official User Manual (PDF).

4. Installation

Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance. Follow these steps:

  1. Mounting Bracket: First, fix the detector bracket securely to the wall using screws.
  2. Detector Placement: Hang the detector onto the fixed bracket.
  3. Recommended Height: The recommended installation height is approximately 2.2 meters (7.2 feet) from the floor.
  4. Angle Adjustment: The detector should be positioned at an angle of 6-12 degrees relative to the wall for best coverage.
  5. Environmental Considerations: Avoid installing the detector near objects that can cause rapid temperature changes, such as air conditioners, electric fans, refrigerators, ovens, or windows.
  6. Clear Line of Sight: Ensure there are no obstructing objects in front of the detector lens.
  7. Indicator Light Orientation: When installing, ensure the indicator light is positioned above the lens to avoid affecting detection accuracy.

5. Setup and Wiring

The BROJEN BJ-960 offers flexible configuration options via jumpers on its PCB to adapt to different system requirements.

  1. Pulse Count (Jumper J1):
    • For general indoor environments, select the first-stage pulse count (factory setting).
    • For harsh environments, select the secondary pulse count.
  2. Alarm Output (Jumper J2 - RELAY):
    • To set the alarm output to Normally Closed (N.C.), ensure the jumper is inserted (factory setting).
    • To set the alarm output to Normally Open (N.O.), unplug the jumper.
  3. LED Indicator (Jumper J3 - ELD):
    • To enable the LED light, ensure the jumper is plugged in (factory setting).
    • To disable the LED light, unplug the jumper.

Connect the power and alarm output wires to the appropriate terminals as shown in the diagram below. Ensure all connections are secure and follow local electrical codes.

6. Operating Instructions

Once properly installed and powered, the BROJEN BJ-960 PIR sensor operates by continuously monitoring its detection area for changes in infrared radiation, which are indicative of human movement.

  • Detection: The dual pyroelectric infrared sensor detects the heat signature of a moving body within its 110° detection angle and up to 10 meters distance.
  • Alarm Trigger: Upon detection, the sensor processes the signal. If the movement meets the configured pulse count threshold, the alarm output (NC/NO) will change state, signaling to the connected alarm system.
  • LED Indicator: If the LED jumper (J3) is enabled, the LED light will illuminate briefly upon detection, providing visual confirmation of activity.
  • Pet Immunity: The unique lens design and internal processing help to minimize false alarms caused by pets up to 25kg.

7. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and reliable operation of your BROJEN BJ-960 PIR sensor, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe the sensor's lens and casing with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and debris. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Obstruction Check: Regularly inspect the area in front of the sensor to ensure no new objects are obstructing its field of view.
  • Environmental Review: Confirm that no new heat sources or air currents (e.g., from newly installed appliances or open windows) are directly affecting the sensor's detection area, which could lead to false alarms.
  • Wiring Inspection: Occasionally check the wiring connections to ensure they remain secure and free from corrosion.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your PIR sensor, consider the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Detection:
    • Check power supply (DC9-16V).
    • Ensure the sensor's field of view is not obstructed.
    • Verify correct wiring of the alarm output (NC/NO) to your alarm system.
    • Confirm the LED indicator (J3) is enabled to visually confirm detection.
  • False Alarms:
    • Relocate the sensor away from direct sunlight, heating/cooling vents, or rapidly changing temperatures.
    • Adjust the pulse count jumper (J1) to the secondary level for harsher environments to increase stability.
    • Ensure the pet immunity feature is effective for your pet's size (up to 25kg).
    • Check for any moving objects (curtains, plants) within the detection zone that might be mistaken for human movement.
  • LED Not Illuminating:
    • Check the LED jumper (J3) on the PCB. Ensure it is plugged in to enable the LED.
  • Alarm Output Not Working:
    • Verify the RELAY jumper (J2) setting matches the required input type (NC/NO) of your alarm host.
    • Inspect the alarm output wiring for loose connections or damage.

If issues persist after troubleshooting, consult the Official User Manual (PDF) or contact customer support.
