Gameplay Instructions

Objective

The goal of the game is to be the first player to reach the high score line on the opposite side of the board. Players can choose to play as PAC-MAN or as one of the four ghosts (Blinky, Pinky, Inky, or Clyde).

Playing as PAC-MAN

  • Roll the yellow PAC-MAN dice to determine movement.
  • Move the electronic PAC-MAN pawn around the maze, making the classic "waka, waka, waka" arcade sounds as you move.
  • Collect power pellets and eat ghosts for extra points.
  • Avoid being caught by the ghost players.

Playing as Ghosts

  • Work collaboratively with other ghost players to trap PAC-MAN.
  • Draw ghost cards and follow their instructions, which may include special movements or abilities.
  • Prevent PAC-MAN from collecting all power pellets and reaching the high score line.

Game End

The game ends when a player, as PAC-MAN, successfully reaches the high score line, or if PAC-MAN runs out of lives. The player with the highest score at the end of the game wins.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe game board and pieces with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.
  • Storage: Store all game components in their original box in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent warping or fading.
  • Battery Replacement: The electronic PAC-MAN pawn requires 3 LR44 batteries. To replace, carefully open the battery compartment, insert new batteries with correct polarity, and secure the cover.
  • Peg Management: When resetting the board, ensure all yellow pegs are pushed back up gently to avoid damage. Some users note that pegs can be stiff or loose; handle with care.

Troubleshooting

  • Board Pieces Not Fitting: Ensure the four parts of the maze game board are aligned correctly. Gentle pressure should be sufficient to connect them. Avoid forcing pieces.
  • Electronic PAC-MAN Sound Issues: If the "waka, waka, waka" sound is inconsistent or not working, check the batteries. Ensure they are correctly inserted and have sufficient charge. Sometimes, pressing the pawn down firmly can help activate the sound.
  • Difficulty Resetting Pegs: Some pegs may be stiff or pop out when resetting. Gently push them up from underneath the board. If a peg is too loose, it may require careful handling to stay in place.
  • Game Setup Time: Initial setup, especially placing all the pegs, can be time-consuming. Consider leaving the pegs in place between games if possible to reduce setup time.
