3. Fitting and Adjustment
Proper fitting of the harness is critical for both comfort and safety. Follow these steps to ensure a secure fit:
- Inspect the Harness: Before putting on, visually inspect the harness for any damage, wear, or defects (refer to Section 4 for detailed inspection).
- Donning the Harness: Hold the harness by the dorsal D-ring. Allow the straps to fall into place. Ensure all straps are untangled.
- Shoulder Straps: Slip your arms through the shoulder straps as if putting on a jacket. Ensure the dorsal D-ring is centered on your back between your shoulder blades.
- Leg Straps: Pull the leg straps between your legs and connect them to the appropriate buckles. Adjust them so they are snug but not overly tight, allowing for full range of motion.
- Chest Strap: Fasten the chest strap and adjust it to a comfortable position across your chest, ensuring it does not restrict breathing or arm movement.
- Waist Belt (Positioning Belt): If using the positioning belt, ensure it sits comfortably around your waist. Adjust it for a snug fit.
- Final Adjustments: Tighten all straps (shoulder, leg, chest, waist) until the harness fits snugly against your body without causing discomfort or restricting movement. There should be no slack in the webbing.

4. Operating Instructions (Usage)
Once the harness is correctly fitted, it is ready for use with appropriate fall arrest or work positioning systems.
Connecting to a Fall Arrest System:
- Connect your fall arrest lanyard or retractable lifeline to either the dorsal or pectoral anchorage point of the harness.
- Ensure the connection is secure and the carabiner (if used) is fully closed and locked.
- Always connect to an anchorage point that can withstand the required load and is positioned to minimize fall distance.
Using the Work Positioning Belt:
- Attach your work positioning lanyard to the side D-rings of the positioning belt.
- The positioning belt is designed to support you in a working position, allowing hands-free operation. It is not a fall arrest system.
- Always use a separate, independent fall arrest system in conjunction with the work positioning belt when there is a risk of falling.

5. Inspection and Maintenance
Regular inspection and proper maintenance are essential to ensure the longevity and safety of your harness.
Pre-Use Inspection:
- Check all webbing for cuts, fraying, excessive wear, discoloration, or chemical damage.
- Inspect all buckles and adjusters for deformation, cracks, corrosion, or proper functioning.
- Examine all D-rings and other metal components for distortion, sharp edges, cracks, or corrosion.
- Verify that all stitching is intact and free from loose threads or damage.
- Ensure all labels are legible and securely attached.
Periodic Inspection:
- In addition to pre-use checks, a competent person must perform a thorough inspection at least every 12 months, or more frequently depending on usage and environmental conditions.
- Record all inspection dates and results on the provided inspection sheet.
Cleaning and Storage:
- Cleaning: The harness should be cleaned by hand washing only. Use mild soap and lukewarm water. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely in a shaded area, away from direct sunlight or heat sources.
- Storage: Store the harness in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, corrosive chemicals, extreme temperatures, and sharp objects.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your PONSA CGPK8 ECO8Solo harness, refer to the following common concerns:
- Harness does not fit correctly: Review Section 3 (Fitting and Adjustment). Ensure all straps are untangled and adjusted snugly. If the harness still does not fit, it may be the wrong size or damaged.
- Visible damage or wear: Immediately remove the harness from service. Do not attempt to repair it. Contact the manufacturer or a competent person for inspection and guidance.
- Difficulty with buckles or adjusters: Ensure buckles are free from dirt or debris. If they are stiff or damaged, remove the harness from service.
- After a fall: Even if no visible damage is apparent, a harness that has been subjected to fall arrest forces must be immediately removed from service and inspected by a competent person or the manufacturer.
