3. Safety Information

To ensure safe operation and prevent damage, observe the following precautions:

  • Electrical Safety: Always disconnect the vehicle's battery before performing any wiring. Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated to prevent short circuits.
  • Loud Sounds: This system produces extremely loud sounds (up to 130 dB). Prolonged exposure to loud sounds can cause hearing damage. Always wear hearing protection when testing or operating the siren in close proximity.
  • Mounting: Mount the control unit and speaker securely to prevent them from becoming dislodged during vehicle movement. Ensure the speaker is mounted in a location that allows sound to project effectively without obstruction.
  • Auxiliary Switches: The auxiliary switches are rated for 20A. Do not exceed this current rating when connecting external devices.
  • Legal Compliance: Be aware of and comply with all local and national laws regarding the use of emergency sirens and PA systems in vehicles. Unauthorized use may result in penalties.

4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of your siren system:

  1. Choose Mounting Locations: Select a secure, dry location for the control unit within reach of the driver. The speaker should be mounted in a forward-facing position, typically behind the grille or bumper, ensuring it is protected from direct water spray and debris.
  2. Wiring the System: Refer to the wiring diagram below. Connect the main power wires (red for positive, black for negative) directly to the vehicle's battery, ensuring an inline fuse is installed on the positive line. Connect the speaker wires (blue and white) to the designated speaker output terminals on the control unit. The auxiliary wires (yellow, green) can be connected to external lights or accessories.
  3. Microphone Connection: Plug the handheld microphone into the designated port on the control unit.
  4. Secure Components: Use the provided mounting hardware to securely fasten the control unit and speaker. Ensure all wires are routed safely away from moving parts and heat sources, and are properly secured with cable ties.
