Introduction
Thank you for choosing Mytee Products Auto Retract Ratchet Straps. These 1-inch by 12-foot retractable straps with coated S-hooks are designed for efficient and secure cargo tiedown. Their auto-retracting mechanism simplifies usage and storage, preventing tangled straps and ensuring quick setup and release. This manual provides essential information for safe and effective operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Safety Information
- Inspect Before Each Use: Always check straps for cuts, fraying, or damage to webbing, hooks, or ratchet mechanism. Do not use damaged straps.
- Working Load Limit (WLL): Each strap has a WLL of 500 lbs (227 kg). Do not exceed this limit. Ensure the combined WLL of all straps used exceeds the weight of the cargo.
- Secure Attachment: Always attach S-hooks to secure anchor points on your vehicle or trailer. Ensure hooks are fully engaged and cannot slip off.
- Proper Tensioning: Apply sufficient tension to secure the load without over-tightening, which can damage the cargo or the strap.
- Protect Straps: Avoid sharp edges on cargo that could cut or abrade the webbing. Use edge protectors if necessary.
- Keep Clear: Keep hands and body clear of the ratchet mechanism during tensioning and release to prevent injury.
- Regular Checks: Re-check strap tension periodically during transit, especially on long journeys or rough terrain.
Setup
Before securing your cargo, ensure the ratchet strap is in the 'Secure Loading Release' position to allow free extension and retraction of the webbing.
- Prepare the Strap: Move the handle of the ratchet mechanism to the 'Secure Loading Release' position. This allows the strap to be freely extended or retracted.
- Attach Fixed End: Secure one S-hook to a designated anchor point on your vehicle or trailer.
- Extend Strap: Pull the strap across your cargo to the opposite anchor point. The strap will extend freely from the mechanism.
- Attach Extendable End: Secure the other S-hook to the second anchor point. Ensure both hooks are firmly attached.

Operation
Tensioning the Strap
- Remove Slack: With both S-hooks attached, pull any excess slack from the strap by hand.
- Ratcheting Position: Move the ratchet handle to the 'Ratcheting Position'.
- Tighten Strap: Pump the ratchet handle up and down until the strap is tight and the cargo is secure. Avoid over-tightening.
- Safety Lock: Once the desired tension is achieved, move the handle into the 'Safety Lock' notch. This locks the tension in place. The 'Safety Lock' position is clearly labeled on the side of the steel casing.

Releasing and Retracting the Strap
- Release Tension: To release tension, press the red button located under the handle and push the handle down to the unlock point.
- Automatic Retraction: Once the handle is in the 'Secure Loading Release' position, the strap will automatically spool back into the steel casing.
- Unhook: Unhook both S-hooks from the anchor points.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Clean straps with mild soap and water. Allow to air dry completely before storage. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.
- Storage: Store straps in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The auto-retract feature keeps the webbing neatly spooled, simplifying storage.
- Lubrication: Periodically check the ratchet mechanism for smooth operation. A light lubricant can be applied to moving parts if needed, avoiding contact with the webbing.
- Damage Check: Regularly inspect the webbing for cuts, tears, or excessive wear. Check hooks for bending, cracks, or corrosion. Ensure the ratchet mechanism operates freely without sticking.
Troubleshooting
Strap Not Retracting
- Ensure the handle is fully in the 'Secure Loading Release' position.
- Check for any obstructions or debris within the spooling mechanism.
- Verify the strap is not twisted or jammed.
Strap Not Tightening
- Confirm the handle is in the 'Ratcheting Position' before pumping.
- Ensure there is enough slack removed from the strap manually before ratcheting.
- Check that the S-hooks are securely attached and not slipping.
Hooks Damaging Cargo
- The S-hooks are plastic-coated to prevent scratches. If damage occurs, ensure the coating is intact.
- Use additional padding or corner protectors between the strap/hooks and sensitive cargo surfaces.
