- RotorLogic DJI Mavic 2 Remote Controller (Model: RC1B)
- Detachable Control Sticks (Thumbsticks)
- USB-C Cable
- Micro-USB Cable
- Lightning Cable (for Apple devices)
3. Setup
Follow these steps to prepare your remote controller for flight:
- Attach Control Sticks: Locate the two detachable thumbsticks stored in the bottom compartments of the controller. Screw them clockwise into the joystick mounts until secure.
- Extend Antennae: Flip up the two antennae located on the top of the controller to ensure optimal signal reception.
- Prepare Mobile Device Holder: Extend the mobile device holder arms from the top and bottom of the controller.
- Connect Mobile Device:
- Select the appropriate USB cable (USB-C, Micro-USB, or Lightning) for your mobile device.
- Plug one end of the cable into the port located within the extended bottom arm of the controller. The cable is designed to sit in a channel, allowing it to slide for different phone sizes.
- Carefully place your mobile phone into the holder, ensuring it is securely gripped by both arms. Plug the other end of the cable into your mobile device.
- Power On: Press and hold the power button on the remote controller until it powers on.
- Launch DJI App: Open the DJI GO 4 app (or relevant DJI app for your drone model) on your mobile device. The app will guide you through connecting to your drone.
Note: For larger tablets that may not fit the integrated holder, a USB-A port is available on the underside of the controller. You can connect a tablet via a separate USB cable to this port. Additional accessories may be required to mount larger tablets.
4. Operating the Controller
Once your mobile device is connected and the DJI app is running, you can begin operating your drone. The controller provides precise control over your drone's movements and camera functions.
- Control Sticks: Use the left stick for altitude and yaw control, and the right stick for forward/backward and left/right movement. The textured surface of the thumbsticks provides enhanced grip.
- Buttons and Dials: Familiarize yourself with the various buttons and dials on the controller for functions such as taking photos, recording video, gimbal control, and flight mode selection. Refer to the DJI GO 4 app interface for specific button assignments and customization options.
- Mobile Device Screen: Your mobile device acts as the primary display, showing real-time video feed from the drone, flight parameters, and access to various settings within the DJI app.
5. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable performance of your remote controller.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the controller's surface. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Storage: Store the controller in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Detach the control sticks and fold the antennae for compact storage.
- Battery Care: Ensure the controller's internal battery is charged regularly, even when not in use, to maintain battery health. Avoid fully discharging the battery for extended periods.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your remote controller, consider the following common solutions:
- Controller Not Powering On: Ensure the battery is sufficiently charged. Connect the controller to a power source using a USB cable.
- Unable to Connect to Drone:
- Verify that both the controller and the drone are powered on.
- Ensure the DJI app is updated to the latest version.
- Check for any firmware updates for both the controller and the drone.
- Attempt to re-link the controller to the drone through the DJI app settings.
- Mobile Device Not Connecting:
- Ensure the correct USB cable is used and securely connected to both the controller and the mobile device.
- Try a different USB cable if available.
- Restart both the mobile device and the controller.
- Poor Signal/Interference: Ensure antennae are properly extended and oriented towards the drone. Avoid flying in areas with high electromagnetic interference.
