4. Self-Installation Guide
This battery pack is intended for self-installation, requiring careful disassembly of your existing tool battery casing and proper reassembly with the new cells. This process requires technical skill and appropriate tools. If you are not confident in your ability to perform this installation, seek assistance from a qualified technician.
4.1 Required Tools (Not Included)
- Screwdriver set (to open the tool battery casing)
- Soldering iron and solder (for connecting battery terminals)
- Wire cutters/strippers
- Multimeter (for checking voltage and polarity)
- Heat shrink tubing or electrical tape (for insulation)
- Safety glasses and gloves
4.2 Installation Steps
- Prepare Workspace: Ensure a clean, well-lit, and static-free workspace. Have all necessary tools ready.
- Disassemble Old Battery: Carefully open the casing of your existing Parkside 24V battery pack. Note the arrangement and polarity of the old cells before removal. Take photos for reference if needed.
- Remove Old Cells: Desolder or carefully disconnect the old battery cells from the internal wiring and terminals. Dispose of old batteries responsibly.
- Inspect New Pack: Verify that the new Seilylanka battery pack matches the configuration and dimensions required for your tool's casing.
- Connect New Pack: Carefully solder the new battery pack's terminals to the tool's internal wiring, ensuring correct polarity (+ to + and - to -). Double-check all connections for secure and clean solder joints. Incorrect polarity can damage the battery, tool, or charger.
- Insulate Connections: Use heat shrink tubing or electrical tape to insulate all exposed solder joints and connections to prevent short circuits.
- Test Voltage: Before closing the casing, use a multimeter to verify the total voltage of the assembled battery pack. It should read approximately 24 Volts.
- Reassemble Casing: Carefully place the new battery pack into the tool's casing, ensuring no wires are pinched. Close and secure the casing.
- Initial Charge: Fully charge the newly installed battery pack using a compatible Ni-MH charger before first use.
5. Operation
5.1 Charging
- Use only a charger specifically designed for 24V Ni-MH battery packs. Using an incompatible charger can damage the battery and pose a safety risk.
- Ensure the battery pack is securely inserted into the charger.
- Monitor the charging process. Do not leave charging batteries unattended for extended periods.
- The battery pack may become warm during charging; this is normal. However, excessive heat indicates a problem.
- Allow the battery to cool down before use if it becomes very warm after charging.
5.2 Discharging and Use
- Insert the fully charged battery pack into your compatible Parkside 24V power tool.
- Operate the tool as per its own instruction manual.
- Avoid completely draining the battery pack. Ni-MH batteries benefit from being recharged before they are fully depleted, though occasional full discharge can help prevent memory effect.
- If the tool's performance noticeably decreases, it's time to recharge the battery.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
- Keep the battery pack and its terminals clean and free from dirt, dust, and moisture.
- Use a dry, soft cloth to wipe the battery pack. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
6.2 Storage
- Store the battery pack in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- For long-term storage, charge the battery pack to approximately 40-60% capacity.
- Recharge the battery pack every 3-6 months during long-term storage to prevent deep discharge and maintain cell health.
