Action and Neck Relief Adjustment

The guitar is factory-set for optimal playability. If you experience fret buzz or difficulty pressing strings, the action or neck relief may need adjustment. This typically involves adjusting the truss rod and/or saddle height. It is recommended to have these adjustments performed by a qualified guitar technician if you are unfamiliar with the process.

Operating the Guitar

Playing Acoustic

The Cort Acoustic-Electric Guitar produces a rich, full-bodied tone acoustically. The solid Sitka Spruce top provides dynamic sensitivity, while the Myrtlewood back and sides contribute to clear projection. The arm bevel-cut enhances playing comfort.

Using the LR Baggs EAS-VTC Pickup System

This guitar is equipped with an LR Baggs EAS-VTC pickup and preamp system for amplified performance. This system is designed for natural, high-quality plugged-in sound.

  • Volume Control: Adjusts the overall output level of the amplified sound.
  • Tone Control: Shapes the tonal characteristics, typically by adjusting treble frequencies.
  • Connecting to an Amplifier: Use a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable to connect the guitar's output jack to an acoustic amplifier or PA system.

Maintenance

Cleaning

Wipe down the guitar body, neck, and strings with a soft, lint-free cloth after each use to remove sweat and oils. For the glossy finish, use a guitar-specific polish sparingly. Avoid abrasive cleaners.

String Replacement

Strings should be replaced regularly to maintain optimal tone and playability. Phosphor Bronze strings are recommended for this model. Replace one string at a time to maintain neck tension.

Humidity Control

Acoustic guitars are sensitive to humidity changes. Store the guitar in its case with a humidifier (if necessary) to maintain relative humidity between 45-55%. Extreme dryness or humidity can cause damage to the wood.

Troubleshooting

  • Fret Buzz:

Check string height at the bridge and neck relief. Minor adjustments can be made to the truss rod. If persistent, consult a professional guitar technician.

  • Poor Amplified Sound:

Ensure the instrument cable is securely connected to both the guitar and the amplifier. Check the amplifier's settings and power. Verify the guitar's pickup system battery (if applicable) is not depleted. The LR Baggs EAS-VTC system is passive, so no battery is required for the pickup itself, but external preamps or pedals might require power.

  • Tuning Instability:

Ensure strings are properly stretched and seated at the tuning pegs and bridge. Check for worn strings or issues with the tuning machines. Lubricate the nut slots if strings are binding.
