3. Operating Instructions

The Pall 1235 Filter Holder is designed for in-line liquid or gas filtration. Observe the following operating parameters:

  • Maximum Operating Pressure: 14 bar (1400 kPa, 200 psi). Do not exceed this pressure to prevent damage to the filter holder or membrane.
  • Maximum Operating Temperature: The maximum operating temperature is limited by the type of filter membrane used, the hose barb adapters (up to 93 °C / 199 °F), or the O-ring (up to 204 °C / 399 °F). Always consider the lowest temperature limit of all components in the system.

Ensure proper flow direction as indicated on the filter holder, if applicable, for optimal filtration performance.

4. Maintenance

The Pall 1235 Filter Holder is provided non-sterile. For sterilization, it is autoclavable under the following conditions:

  • Temperature: 121 - 123 °C (250 - 253 °F)
  • Pressure: 1.0 bar (100 kPa, 15 psi)
  • Duration: 15 - 20 minutes

Regularly inspect the O-ring for signs of wear or damage and replace if necessary to maintain a proper seal. Clean the anodized aluminum components with appropriate laboratory cleaning agents that are compatible with aluminum.

5. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with the filter holder, consider the following common points:

  • Leakage: Check that the O-ring is correctly seated and not damaged. Ensure all components are securely tightened. Verify that the operating pressure does not exceed the maximum limit.
  • Reduced Flow: This typically indicates a clogged filter membrane. Replace the membrane. Ensure the correct pore size and type of membrane are used for your application.
  • Difficulty Assembling: Ensure all parts are clean and aligned correctly. Do not force components together.

For persistent issues, refer to the detailed specifications or contact Pall customer support.
