Step-by-Step Instructions
- Wall and Door Preparation:
- Ensure the door has at least a 1-inch overlap with the jamb.
- Retrieve the template from the packaging.
- Position the template on the jamb and mark the drilling locations.
- Prep on the Jamb:
- Pre-drill the marked locations on the jamb using a 1/8-inch drill bit.
- Install the mounting plate using four #2 Phillips head screws.
- Handling the Lock:
- Attach the thumb turn to the lever using two #2 Phillips head screws.
- Installation of the Lock:
- Mount the lock body to the installed mounting plate using four #2 Phillips head screws.
- Install the cover plate by sliding the tab over the bolt, pushing it towards the back, and pressing it firmly down. Secure with the #1 Phillips mounting screw. Do not use power tools for this step to avoid stripping the screw.
- Prep and Install Dust-Proof Strike with Emergency Release on Barn Door:
- Close the barn door completely to its stop position.
- Extend the lock bolt to mark its location on the door.
- Pre-drill the marked location with a 1/8-inch drill bit.
- Drill all the way through the door with a 1/4-inch drill bit.
- From the inside of the door, drill to a depth of 1 1/4 inches using a 1-inch hole saw.
- Install the strike with a mounting screw and a threaded washer.
- Install the decorative cap on the exterior side of the door.

Operation
The INOX BD1023-32D Privacy Lock is designed for simple operation:
- Locking: To engage the lock, simply use the one-touch thumb lever on the interior side of the door. This will extend the bolt into the dust-proof strike, securing the door.
- Unlocking: To unlock, retract the thumb lever.
- Emergency Release: An emergency release key is provided for access from the exterior side of the door, if needed. Insert the key into the small opening on the exterior decorative cap and turn to disengage the lock.
