Prime Screen Alcohol ETG Urine Test Kit User Manual

Model: WETG-114 | Brand: Prime Screen

1. Introduction

This user manual provides detailed instructions for the proper use of the Prime Screen Alcohol ETG Urine Test Kit. This kit is designed for the rapid detection of Ethyl Glucuronide (EtG) in human urine at a cutoff concentration of 300 ng/mL. EtG is a direct metabolite of alcohol, indicating recent alcohol consumption. The test provides results within 5 minutes and can detect alcohol presence up to 80 hours after consumption with over 99% accuracy.

This device is intended for in vitro diagnostic use only. It is not intended for medical diagnosis or treatment. Consult a healthcare professional for interpretation of results in a clinical context.

4. Setup and Preparation

Before performing the test, ensure the following conditions are met:

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Urine Sample Collection

Collect a urine sample in a clean, dry container. The sample can be collected at any time of day. For best results, use a fresh urine sample. If testing cannot be performed immediately, the urine sample may be stored at 2-8°C (36-46°F) for up to 48 hours, or frozen at -20°C (-4°F) for longer periods. Bring frozen samples to room temperature and mix thoroughly before testing.

5.2. Performing the Test

  1. Remove the test dip card from its sealed foil pouch by tearing along the notch.
  2. Hold the dip card by the end opposite the absorbent strips.
  3. Dip the absorbent end of the test strip into the urine sample for 10 seconds. Ensure the urine level does not exceed the MAX line on the strip.
  4. Remove the dip card from the urine and immediately recap the device.
  5. Lay the recapped test device flat on a clean, dry, non-absorbent surface.
  6. Start the timer. Read the results at 5 minutes. Do not interpret results after 30 minutes, as this may lead to inaccurate readings.

6. Interpreting Results

Interpret the results at the 5-minute mark. Do not interpret results after 30 minutes.

6.1. Negative Result

Two lines appear. One colored line appears in the Control region (C), and another colored line appears in the Test region (T). The intensity of the line in the Test region (T) may vary, but any visible line, no matter how faint, indicates a negative result. This means the EtG concentration in the urine is below the 300 ng/mL cutoff level.

6.2. Preliminary Positive Result

One colored line appears in the Control region (C), and NO line appears in the Test region (T). This indicates a preliminary positive result, meaning the EtG concentration in the urine is at or above the 300 ng/mL cutoff level. A preliminary positive result should be confirmed by a laboratory using a more specific method, such as GC/MS.

6.3. Invalid Result

No colored line appears in the Control region (C), or a line appears only in the Test region (T) but not in the Control region (C). An invalid result indicates insufficient sample volume or incorrect procedural techniques. Review the operating instructions and repeat the test with a new test device.

7. Maintenance and Storage

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No control line (C) appears.Insufficient sample volume, incorrect procedure, or expired/damaged test.Ensure proper dipping technique and sufficient sample. Check expiration date. Repeat test with a new device.
Faint line in the Test region (T) for a negative result.EtG concentration is close to the cutoff level but still below it.Any visible line in the Test region (T), no matter how faint, indicates a negative result. No action needed unless further confirmation is desired.
Results are unclear or difficult to read.Read time exceeded 30 minutes, or test was not laid flat.Always read results at 5 minutes. Ensure the test device is placed on a flat, stable surface during development. Repeat test if necessary.
