5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
- Main Unit: Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the main unit. Insert 2 x AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the cover.
- Remote Sensor: Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the remote sensor. Insert 2 x AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the cover.
The main unit will automatically begin searching for the remote sensor once batteries are installed. The outdoor temperature reading will appear on the display once a connection is established.
5.2 Initial Pairing
Typically, the main unit and remote sensor will pair automatically within a few minutes of battery installation. If the outdoor temperature does not display, or if you need to re-establish connection:
- Ensure both units have fresh batteries.
- Bring the remote sensor closer to the main unit.
- Press the 'RESET' button (usually a small pinhole) on the back of the main unit. This will restart the search for the sensor.
- If still unsuccessful, remove batteries from both units, wait 1 minute, then reinsert batteries into the remote sensor first, followed by the main unit.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Switching Temperature Units (°C/°F)
To switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F), press the 'C/F' button located on the back of the main unit. The display will instantly update to the selected unit.
6.2 Viewing Minimum/Maximum Temperatures
The thermometer automatically records the minimum and maximum temperatures over a 24-hour period. To view these records:
- Press the 'MAX/MIN' button on the back of the main unit once to display the maximum recorded temperatures for both indoor and outdoor.
- Press the 'MAX/MIN' button again to display the minimum recorded temperatures for both indoor and outdoor.
- The display will revert to current temperatures after a few seconds, or you can press the button a third time to return to current readings.
6.3 Understanding Temperature Trend Arrows
The display features trend arrows next to the temperature readings, indicating whether the temperature is rising, falling, or stable:
- ↗ (Up Arrow): Temperature is rising.
- ↘ (Down Arrow): Temperature is falling.
- → (Horizontal Arrow): Temperature is stable.
7. Placement & Installation
7.1 Main Unit Placement
The main unit can be placed in two ways:
- Desktop Placement: Extend the built-in kickstand on the back of the unit and place it on any flat surface, such as a desk, shelf, or nightstand.
- Wall Mounting: Use the hanging hole on the back of the unit to mount it on a wall using a screw (not included). Ensure the wall is suitable for mounting and the unit is securely fastened.

7.2 Remote Sensor Placement
For accurate outdoor temperature readings, place the remote sensor in a location that meets the following criteria:
- Out of Direct Sunlight: Direct sunlight can cause inaccurate temperature readings. Choose a shaded area.
- Protected from Rain/Snow: While the sensor is designed for outdoor use, prolonged exposure to heavy rain or snow can affect its lifespan. Place it under an overhang or in a sheltered spot.
- Good Air Circulation: Ensure the sensor is not enclosed in a way that restricts airflow, which can lead to skewed readings.
- Within Range: The wireless range is up to 100 meters (328 feet) in open air. Walls, metal structures, and other electronic devices can reduce this range. Test the signal strength before final installation.
- Away from Heat Sources: Avoid placing near vents, windows, or appliances that generate heat.
8. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the unit and sensor with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse in water.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries in both units when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Always replace all batteries at the same time with new ones of the same type.
- Storage: If storing the device for an extended period, remove all batteries to prevent leakage and corrosion.
9. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No outdoor temperature reading / Dashes on display | Sensor out of range, low sensor battery, interference, pairing issue. | Move sensor closer to main unit. Replace sensor batteries. Avoid placing near electronic devices. Press RESET button on main unit. |
| Inaccurate temperature readings | Sensor exposed to direct sunlight or heat source, poor air circulation. | Relocate sensor to a shaded area with good airflow, away from heat sources. |
| Display is dim or blank | Low main unit battery. | Replace main unit batteries (2 x AAA). |
| Cannot switch between °C/°F | Button not pressed correctly, unit malfunction. | Ensure firm press on C/F button. If issue persists, try resetting the unit. |
