5. Operating Instructions

The injector can be removed using two primary methods: rotation with the handle or axial extraction with the slide hammer.

5.1. Method 1: Rotating with the Handle

  1. Ensure the puller assembly is securely attached to the injector.

  3. Apply steady, rotational force to the handle, attempting to twist the injector free from its seating. This method is often effective for injectors that are not severely seized.
  4. Once the injector begins to loosen, continue rotating and gently pulling until it is fully extracted.

5.2. Method 2: Axial Extraction with Slide Hammer

  1. With the slide hammer assembly attached to the injector, hold the slide hammer shaft firmly.
  2. Slide the 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs) hammer forcefully towards the handle, away from the injector. The impact of the hammer against the stop will create an upward pulling force on the injector.
  3. Repeat this action, applying consistent and controlled impacts, until the injector begins to move.
  4. Continue the axial extraction process until the injector is completely removed from its bore.
  5. Caution: Avoid excessive force that could damage the injector or surrounding engine components. If the injector is extremely stubborn, apply penetrating oil and allow it to soak before attempting removal again.
