1. Product Overview

The Panasonic SC-PMX94 is a compact mini home audio system designed to deliver high-quality sound. 2. Setup Guide

2.1 Unpacking and Placement

  • Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  • Place the main unit and speakers on a stable, flat surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
  • For optimal sound, position the speakers at an equal distance from the listening position and at least 10 cm away from walls to allow for proper bass reflex operation.

2.2 Speaker Connection

  1. Connect the speaker cables to the corresponding terminals on the main unit and speakers. Ensure correct polarity (red to red, black to black).
  2. Note: The provided speaker cables are approximately 1 meter long. If longer cables are required, ensure they are of suitable gauge for audio transmission.

2.3 Antenna Connection

  • Connect the supplied FM/DAB+ antenna to the antenna input on the rear of the main unit.
  • Extend the antenna fully and position it for best reception. Avoid placing it near metal objects or other electronic devices that may cause interference.

2.4 Power Connection

  • Plug the power cord into the AC inlet on the main unit, then into a wall outlet.
  • The unit will enter standby mode.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Power On/Off

  • Press the [U/I] button on the unit or remote control to turn the power on or off (standby).

3.2 Source Selection

  • Press the [SELECTOR] button repeatedly to cycle through available sources: CD, DAB/FM, Bluetooth, USB, AUX IN, OPTICAL IN.

3.3 CD Playback

  1. Press [OPEN/CLOSE] to open the CD tray.
  2. Place a CD with the label side up.
  3. Press [OPEN/CLOSE] again to close the tray.
  4. The system will automatically start playback. If not, press [PLAY/PAUSE].

3.4 DAB+/FM Radio

  1. Select the DAB/FM source.
  2. For DAB+ radio, the system will automatically scan for available stations upon first use.
  3. For FM radio, press [TUNING MODE] to select auto or manual tuning. Use the [PRESET] buttons to navigate stations.

3.5 Bluetooth Pairing

  1. Select the Bluetooth source. The display will show "PAIRING".
  2. On your smartphone or Bluetooth device, search for "SC-PMX94" in the Bluetooth settings.
  3. Select the unit to pair. Once connected, the display will show "BLUETOOTH CONNECTED".

3.6 USB Playback

  1. Insert a USB flash drive into the USB port on the front of the unit.
  2. Select the USB source.
  3. Use the navigation buttons to browse and select audio files (e.g., MP3, FLAC).

3.7 Auxiliary Inputs

  • The unit features an "AUDIO IN" (RCA) and an "AUX" (mini-jack) input.
  • Connect external devices (e.g., TV, MP3 player) to the desired input.
  • Select the corresponding source. Note that the mini-jack input may have a more sensitive level than the RCA input.
  • The unit supports an "auto on" feature for auxiliary inputs, allowing the system to power on or switch to the auxiliary source when a signal is detected. This feature can be enabled or disabled in the settings.

3.8 Sound Adjustment

  • Use the [VOLUME] knob to adjust the overall sound level.
  • Use the [BASS] and [TREBLE] knobs to fine-tune the bass and treble levels.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning the Unit

  • Wipe the unit and speakers with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cloths, waxes, or cleaning sprays, as they may damage the finish.
  • Ensure the unit is unplugged before cleaning.

4.2 CD Player Care

  • Handle CDs by their edges to avoid fingerprints and scratches.
  • Clean dirty CDs with a soft, lint-free cloth, wiping from the center outwards.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your SC-PMX94, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
