  • Always point the air rifle in a safe direction.
  • Treat every air rifle as if it were loaded.
  • Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
  • Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
  • Wear appropriate eye protection when handling or shooting the air rifle.
  • Keep the air rifle unloaded and on 'safe' until ready to use.
  • Store the air rifle and pellets separately and securely, out of reach of children and unauthorized users.
  • Never shoot at hard surfaces or water, as pellets can ricochet.

3.3. Loading Pellets

This air rifle is a single-shot break barrel design. Only use .177 caliber pellets. Refer to the 'Operating Instructions' section for detailed loading procedures.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Cocking the Air Rifle

  1. Ensure the air rifle is pointed in a safe direction.
  2. Grip the barrel and firmly break it downwards until the spring piston mechanism engages and locks. This action automatically sets the safety.
  3. Return the barrel to its original position, ensuring it locks securely.

4.2. Loading a Pellet

  1. With the barrel broken open (after cocking), insert a single .177 caliber pellet into the breech. Ensure the pellet is seated correctly.
  2. Close the barrel firmly until it latches.

4.3. Engaging the Safety

The AirTact ED features both a manual safety and an automatic cocking safety. The automatic safety engages every time the rifle is cocked. To disengage the safety, push the safety button forward (typically located near the trigger guard) when you are ready to fire.

4.4. Firing the Air Rifle

  1. With the air rifle cocked and loaded, aim at your target.
  2. Disengage the safety.
  3. Place your finger on the trigger and apply steady pressure until the shot fires.

4.5. Adjusting Sights

The air rifle is equipped with a micro-adjustable rear fiber optic sight and a fixed red front fiber optic sight. Adjustments to the rear sight can be made for windage and elevation to improve accuracy.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your air rifle.

5.1. Cleaning the Barrel

Periodically clean the barrel to remove lead residue and debris. Use a cleaning rod with appropriate patches and airgun-specific cleaning solvent. Always clean from the breech end if possible, or use a bore snake.

5.2. Exterior Cleaning

Wipe down the exterior of the air rifle with a soft, dry cloth after each use to remove dirt, moisture, and fingerprints. A light coat of silicone oil can be applied to metal parts to prevent corrosion.

5.3. Storage

Store the air rifle unloaded, uncocked, and with the safety engaged in a secure, dry place, away from extreme temperatures and humidity. Keep it out of reach of children and unauthorized individuals.

6. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Hatsan AirTact ED Combo air rifle.

  • Poor Accuracy:
Ensure the scope is securely mounted and properly zeroed. Check for loose scope rings. Experiment with different pellet types and weights, as air rifles can be particular about ammunition. Clean the barrel if it hasn't been cleaned recently.
  • Difficulty Cocking:
The break barrel mechanism requires a firm, consistent pull. If cocking becomes excessively difficult, ensure the barrel is fully broken and the mechanism is not obstructed. New air rifles may require a break-in period.
  • Low Velocity/Power:
Ensure you are using appropriate .177 caliber pellets. Velocity can be affected by pellet weight, shape, material, temperature, and elevation. If a significant drop in power is observed, the spring piston seal may need inspection by a qualified technician.
  • Trigger Feels Rough:
The trigger pull is adjustable. Refer to the detailed instructions in the full owner's manual for trigger adjustment procedures. A break-in period may also smooth out the trigger action.

If you experience persistent issues not covered here, please contact Hatsan customer support.
