1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and efficient operation of your QPIX DIGITAL Film Negative and Slide Scanner. This device is designed to convert various film types, including 35mm/135, 110, 126Kpk, and Super 8 films, as well as 35mm slides, into high-resolution digital JPEG images. Please read this manual thoroughly before use and retain it for future reference.

The scanner features a 2.4-inch LCD screen for previewing and editing, and it can operate independently without a computer, saving images directly to an SD card (not included). It offers a maximum resolution of 22 megapixels (interpolated) for clear and detailed digital conversions.

4. Setup

4.1 Power Connection

1. Connect the USB Power Cable to the scanner's USB port.
2. Connect the other end of the USB Power Cable to the AC Adapter.
3. Plug the AC Adapter into a standard electrical outlet.

4.2 Inserting an SD Card (Optional)

The scanner has 128MB of built-in memory. For extended storage, an SD card (up to 32GB, not included) is recommended.

1. Locate the SD card slot on the side of the scanner.
2. Insert the SD card into the slot until it clicks into place. Ensure the card is inserted in the correct orientation.

4.3 Preparing Film/Slides

Select the appropriate film holder for your film or slide type.

1. Open the chosen film holder.
2. Carefully place your negative or slide into the designated slot within the holder. For roll films, ensure the film is aligned correctly.
3. Close the film holder, ensuring the film/slide is securely held without creases or damage.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off

Press the Power button (usually located on the top or side) to turn the scanner on. Press and hold the Power button to turn it off.

5.2 Navigating the Menu

Use the navigation buttons (Up, Down, Left, Right, OK/Enter) on the top panel to browse through the menu options displayed on the 2.4-inch LCD screen.

• Language Mode: Select your preferred language.
• USB Mode: For connecting to a computer.
• Playback Mode: View previously scanned images.
• Capture Mode: Initiate scanning.
• Film Type: Select the type of film/slide you are scanning (e.g., 35mm, 110, Super 8).
• Resolution: Choose between 14MP or 22MP (interpolated).
• Format: Manage storage or format the SD card.

5.3 Scanning Process

1. Insert the prepared film holder into the slot on the right side of the film scanner.
2. Navigate to 'Capture Mode' on the LCD screen and press 'OK/Enter'.
3. Adjust brightness, color, and reverse/flip settings as needed using the menu options.
4. Press the 'Scan' button (or 'OK/Enter') to capture the image. The scanned image will appear on the LCD.
5. The image will be automatically saved to the internal memory or the inserted SD card.
6. Remove the film holder and repeat the process for additional films/slides.

5.4 Connecting to PC/TV

To view or transfer images on a larger screen:

• PC Connection: Connect the scanner to your computer using the USB cable. Select 'USB Mode' on the scanner's menu. The scanner will appear as a removable disk, allowing you to transfer files.
• TV Output: Connect the Video Cable from the scanner's AV out port to your television's AV input. Select 'Playback Mode' on the scanner to view your scanned images on the TV.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Scanner

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and image quality.

• Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the scanner with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
• Light Box/Lens: Use the included film cleaning brush to gently remove dust and speckles from the light box and lens area. This prevents marks on scanned images.
• Film Holders: Clean film holders with a soft, dry cloth to remove any dust or debris before inserting film.

6.2 Storage

When not in use, store the scanner in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and excessive dust.
