Setup and Installation

1. Safety Precautions

Before beginning any installation, ensure the main power supply is turned off at the circuit breaker to prevent electrical shock. Always consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure about any wiring procedures.

2. Wiring Instructions

The SONOFF Basic R2 is designed for simple integration. Connect the Live (L) and Neutral (N) wires from your power source to the "INPUT" terminals of the device. Then, connect the Live (L) and Neutral (N) wires of your appliance (e.g., light fixture) to the "OUTPUT" terminals. Ensure all connections are secure.

3. APP Installation and Device Pairing

To control your SONOFF Basic R2, you need to install the eWeLink app on your smartphone. The device supports 2.4GHz WiFi networks only. Ensure your router is set to 2.4GHz for pairing.

  1. Download the eWeLink app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
  2. Register and log in to your eWeLink account.
  3. Power on the SONOFF Basic R2.
  4. Long press any configuration button on the device for approximately 5-7 seconds until the WiFi LED indicator changes to a cycle of two short flashes and one long flash. This indicates the device is in pairing mode.
  5. In the eWeLink app, tap the "+" icon to add a new device.
  6. Select "Quick Pairing" and follow the on-screen prompts to connect the device to your 2.4GHz WiFi network.
  7. Once successfully added, you can name your device and assign it to a room.

Operating Instructions

1. Remote Control via eWeLink App

Once paired, you can control your SONOFF Basic R2 from anywhere using the eWeLink app. Simply tap the power icon on the device interface within the app to turn the connected appliance on or off. The app also displays the real-time status of your device.

The LAN control function allows you to operate your SONOFF Basic R2 even when your internet connection is down. Ensure your smartphone, the SONOFF device, and your router remain connected to the same local area network (LAN) for this feature to work.

Use LAN control function to turn on/off the device when WiFi can't access the Internet. Remember to keep WiFi connection among the router, SONOFF device and eWeLink app when using LAN.
