4. Controls and Connections

4.1. Input Jack
Connect your instrument or the output of the preceding pedal in your signal chain to this jack. The buffer will process the signal from this point.
4.2. Output Jack
Connect this jack to your amplifier or the input of the next pedal in your signal chain. This is where the buffered signal exits the pedal.
4.3. DC 9V Input
Connect a standard 9V DC power supply (center negative) to this jack. The pedal requires external power to operate.
4.4. Phase Inversion Switch
This switch allows you to invert the phase of your signal. In some setups, especially when combining multiple effects or amplifiers, phase cancellations can occur, leading to a thin or weak sound. Flipping this switch can correct such issues, restoring fullness to your tone. Experiment with its position to find the optimal setting for your rig.
5. Setup
- Ensure your amplifier and other audio equipment are turned off before making connections.
- Connect your guitar or the output of your first pedal to the Input jack of the BJF Buffer.
- Connect the Output jack of the BJF Buffer to your amplifier or the input of the next pedal in your signal chain.
- Connect a 9V DC (center negative) power supply to the DC 9V Input jack.
- Once all connections are secure, you may power on your amplifier and other equipment.
6. Operation
The BJF Buffer is designed for "always-on" operation. It does not have a footswitch to engage or bypass the buffering effect, as its primary purpose is to maintain signal integrity continuously.
- Buffering: Once powered, the pedal automatically buffers your signal, preventing high-frequency loss and maintaining clarity, especially with long cable runs or large pedalboards.
- Phase Inversion: If you experience a thin or hollow sound when combining your buffered signal with other effects or amplifiers, try flipping the Phase Inversion Switch. This often resolves phase cancellation issues and restores the full body of your tone. Listen carefully to determine the optimal setting for your specific setup.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the pedal's exterior. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the pedal in a dry environment, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
- Power: Always use a regulated 9V DC (center negative) power supply to prevent damage to the unit.
