Operating Instructions

1. Setting the Variable Speed

The Lotos ER001 features a variable speed control dial (16,000-30,000 RPM). Adjust the dial to select the appropriate speed for your material and router bit. Lower speeds are generally used for larger diameter bits, harder materials, or when more control is needed. Higher speeds are suitable for smaller bits and softer materials.

2. Adjusting Plunge Depth

  1. Place the router on a flat surface with the bit just touching the workpiece.
  2. Loosen the plunge lock lever.
  3. Use the depth adjustment rod and 7-stop turret to set the desired routing depth. The micro-adjustment knob allows for fine-tuning. The maximum plunge depth is 2 inches.

3. Routing Techniques

  • Plunge Routing: For internal cuts or starting a cut in the middle of a workpiece, unlock the plunge mechanism, lower the bit into the material, and then engage the plunge lock.
  • Fixed Routing: For edge work or consistent depth cuts, lock the plunge mechanism at the desired depth before starting the cut.
  • Direction of Feed: Always feed the router against the rotation of the bit to maintain control and prevent kickback.
  • Maintain Control: Hold the router firmly with both hands on the rubber-covered handles during operation.
