4. Setup
4.1 Mounting the Microphone
The PodMic features an integrated swing mount with a 3/8-inch thread, which can be adapted to 5/8-inch using a common adapter (not included). This allows for easy attachment to a wide range of microphone stands or boom arms. Ensure the mount is securely tightened to prevent movement during use.
4.2 Connecting to an Audio Interface
The PodMic connects via an XLR cable (not included) to an audio interface, mixer, or RØDECaster Pro. As a dynamic microphone, it does not require phantom power. Connect one end of the XLR cable to the microphone's XLR port and the other end to an available XLR input on your audio device.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Microphone Placement
For optimal sound quality, position the PodMic approximately 2-6 inches (5-15 cm) from your mouth. The microphone is designed to be spoken into directly from the front. Experiment with distance to find the best balance for your voice and recording environment.
5.2 Adjusting Gain
Adjust the gain (input level) on your audio interface or mixer to achieve a strong signal without clipping (distortion). Dynamic microphones typically require more gain than condenser microphones. Monitor your audio levels to ensure they are within an optimal range, usually peaking around -6dB to -3dB.

6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the microphone body. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: When not in use, store the microphone in a clean, dry place, preferably in its original packaging or a protective case, to prevent dust accumulation and physical damage.
- Handling: Handle the microphone with care. Avoid dropping it or subjecting it to harsh impacts, as this can damage internal components.
7. Troubleshooting
- No Sound:
- Ensure the XLR cable is securely connected at both the microphone and the audio interface.
- Check the input gain level on your audio interface; it may need to be increased.
- Verify that the correct input is selected on your audio interface software or hardware.
- Low Volume:
- Increase the gain on your audio interface. Dynamic microphones often require higher gain settings.
- Ensure the microphone is positioned close enough to the sound source (e.g., your mouth).
- Distorted Sound (Clipping):
- Decrease the gain on your audio interface.
- Ensure the microphone is not too close to the sound source.
- Unwanted Noise/Hum:
- Use a high-quality, shielded XLR cable.
- Ensure all audio equipment is properly grounded.
- Move the microphone away from electronic devices that may cause interference.
