3. Mounting the Front Camera
- Clean the chosen area on your windshield, typically behind the rearview mirror, to ensure proper adhesion.
- Attach the adhesive mounting bracket to the main unit.
- Remove the protective film from the adhesive pad on the bracket.
- Firmly press the main unit with the bracket onto the windshield for at least 30 seconds. Ensure the camera lens has a clear view of the road ahead.
4. Mounting the Rear Camera
- Clean the inside of your rear window where the camera will be mounted.
- Attach the adhesive mounting bracket to the rear camera.
- Remove the protective film from the adhesive pad.
- Firmly press the rear camera onto the rear window. Ensure the camera lens has a clear view of the road behind.
5. Connecting the Cameras and Power

- Connect the cigarette lighter power adapter to the main unit's power input.
- Insert the power adapter into your vehicle's 12V cigarette lighter socket.
- Start your vehicle's engine. The drive recorder should power on automatically.
6. Initial Settings
Upon first power-on, you may need to configure basic settings such as date, time, time zone, and G-sensor sensitivity using the touch screen interface. Refer to the on-screen prompts or the detailed settings section of this manual for guidance.
Operating Instructions
1. Automatic Recording
Once powered on, the DRY-TW8500d automatically begins continuous loop recording. Footage is saved to the MicroSD card. When the card is full, the oldest unprotected files are overwritten.
2. Event Recording (G-sensor)
The built-in G-sensor detects sudden impacts or rapid acceleration/deceleration. When an event is detected, the current recording segment is automatically locked and saved to a protected folder on the MicroSD card, preventing it from being overwritten by loop recording.
3. Manual Recording
To manually save a recording segment, press the designated button on the device (refer to the device diagram in the manual for exact button location). This will lock the current video file, similar to G-sensor activated event recording.
4. Playback
To review recorded footage:
- Stop recording by pressing the appropriate button or navigating through the menu.
- Access the playback menu on the 2.4-inch LCD touch screen.
- Select the desired video file from the list. Files are typically categorized by date/time and type (normal, event, parking).
- Use the touch controls to play, pause, fast forward, or rewind the video.
5. Parking Surveillance (Optional)
The DRY-TW8500d supports parking surveillance mode, which requires an optional hardwire kit (e.g., OP-VMU01). When this accessory is installed and configured, the device can monitor your vehicle for impacts or motion while parked, even when the engine is off. Refer to the optional accessory's manual for specific installation and operation details.
Maintenance
1. MicroSD Card Formatting
Regularly formatting the MicroSD card (at least once a month) is crucial for maintaining optimal recording performance and preventing data corruption. This can be done through the device's menu settings. Warning: Formatting will erase all data on the card. Back up important files before formatting.
2. Cleaning the Lenses and Display
Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the camera lenses and the LCD display. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they can damage the surfaces.
3. Firmware Updates
Periodically check the Yupiteru official website for available firmware updates. Firmware updates can improve performance, add new features, or fix bugs. Follow the instructions provided with the firmware update package carefully.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your DRY-TW8500d, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Device does not power on:
Ensure the power cable is securely connected to both the device and the vehicle's cigarette lighter socket. Check if the vehicle's 12V power outlet is functioning. - Recording stops or files are corrupted:
Format the MicroSD card regularly. Ensure you are using a high-quality, genuine MicroSD card recommended for dash cam use. The card may be full or faulty; try replacing it. - Poor image quality:
Clean the camera lenses. Ensure the protective film has been removed from the lenses. Check if the camera angle is correct and not obstructed. - G-sensor is too sensitive or not sensitive enough:
Adjust the G-sensor sensitivity setting through the device's menu. - GPS signal not acquired:
Ensure the device has a clear view of the sky. Avoid mounting near metallic objects that might block the signal. It may take a few minutes to acquire a signal after starting the vehicle.
