1. Introduction
The iKiKin M7 Head-Up Display (HUD) is designed to project essential driving data directly onto your windshield, enhancing driving safety by minimizing the need to look away from the road. This device features a dual system, supporting both OBDII and GPS modes, making it compatible with a wide range of vehicles. It displays information such as vehicle speed, engine RPM, fuel consumption, water temperature, and voltage.
The M7 HUD includes a 3.5-inch Full HD screen, automatic power on/off functionality, and adjustable brightness settings (both automatic and manual) to ensure optimal visibility in various lighting conditions.
2. Safety Information
- Ensure the device is securely mounted and does not obstruct your view of the road or interfere with vehicle controls.
- Do not attempt to adjust settings or install the device while driving. Always pull over to a safe location.
- Keep the device away from water and extreme temperatures.
- Use only the provided cables and accessories to prevent damage to the device or vehicle.
- If the device malfunctions or emits smoke/unusual odors, immediately disconnect it from the power source and contact support.
3. Package Contents
Please check the package for the following items:
- iKiKin M7 HUD Unit
- OBDII Cable
- USB Cable (for GPS mode or vehicles with voltage > 24V)
- Reflective Film for Windshield
- Anti-slip Mat
- User Manual (this document)
4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Choosing a Location
Place the HUD unit on the dashboard in a position that does not obstruct your view of the road. Use the provided anti-slip mat to secure the device.
4.2 Applying the Reflective Film
For optimal display clarity, especially in bright conditions, apply the reflective film to your windshield. Clean the windshield thoroughly before application. The "FRONT" side of the film should face towards you (the driver).

4.3 Connecting the Device
The M7 HUD supports two operating modes: OBDII and GPS.
4.3.1 OBDII Mode (Recommended for most vehicles)
- Locate your vehicle's OBDII port. This is typically found under the dashboard on the driver's side.
- Connect the provided OBDII cable to the vehicle's OBDII port.
- Connect the other end of the OBDII cable to the HUD unit.
- Start your vehicle's engine. The HUD unit should power on automatically and display data.

Note: If your vehicle's voltage is above 24V (e.g., some trucks), use the USB cable for power instead of the OBDII cable, and operate in GPS mode.
4.3.2 GPS Mode (For vehicles incompatible with OBDII or with voltage > 24V)
- Connect the provided USB cable to the HUD unit.
- Plug the other end of the USB cable into a vehicle USB port or a 12V car charger adapter (not included).
- Place the HUD unit in a location with a clear view of the sky to ensure good GPS signal reception.
- The HUD will automatically switch to GPS mode if no OBDII connection is detected or if manually selected. It will acquire satellite signals, which may take up to 60 seconds initially.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Automatic Power On/Off
The M7 HUD is designed to power on automatically when the vehicle engine starts and power off when the engine is turned off. This feature helps conserve vehicle battery life.
5.2 Displayed Information
The HUD can display various driving parameters depending on the operating mode:
- Speed: Current vehicle speed (Km/h or MPH).
- Engine RPM: Engine revolutions per minute (OBDII mode only).
- Fuel Consumption: Real-time fuel usage (OBDII mode only).
- Water Temperature: Engine coolant temperature (OBDII mode only).
- Voltage: Vehicle battery voltage.
- Time/Distance: (GPS mode may offer additional data like trip distance or time).

5.3 Brightness Adjustment
The HUD features both automatic and manual brightness adjustment modes. In automatic mode, the device adjusts its display brightness based on ambient light conditions. Refer to the device's on-screen menu or physical buttons (if present) for manual adjustment options.
5.4 Switching Between OBDII and GPS Modes
The M7 HUD can automatically detect the connection type. If both OBDII and GPS signals are available, the device typically prioritizes OBDII data. You may be able to manually switch between modes using the device's control button or menu. Consult the quick start guide or on-screen prompts for specific instructions on mode selection.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
To clean the HUD unit, gently wipe the screen and casing with a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or excessive moisture, as these can damage the device.
6.2 Storage
When not in use for extended periods, store the HUD in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Disconnect it from the vehicle's power source.
7. Troubleshooting
| Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| HUD does not power on. | No power, loose cable, vehicle not started. | Ensure the OBDII or USB cable is securely connected. Start the vehicle engine. Check vehicle's OBDII port for power. Try a different USB port or adapter if using GPS mode. |
| No speed display in OBDII mode. | Vehicle OBDII protocol incompatibility, faulty connection. | Verify OBDII cable connection. Try switching to GPS mode. Some older or specific vehicle models may not fully support OBDII data. |
| Speed display is inaccurate or delayed. | Speed offset setting, GPS signal interference. | Access the HUD settings to calibrate the speed offset. In GPS mode, ensure a clear view of the sky for better signal reception. |
| HUD turns on/off randomly or stays on after engine off. | Vehicle's OBDII port provides constant power, internal device issue. | If the OBDII port provides constant power, the HUD may not turn off automatically. Disconnect the OBDII cable when the vehicle is off to prevent battery drain. If the issue persists, contact customer support. |
| Display is too dim or too bright. | Brightness settings, reflective film not applied. | Adjust the brightness settings manually via the device menu. Ensure the reflective film is correctly applied to the windshield for optimal visibility. |
| HUD drains car battery overnight. | OBDII port provides constant power. | Some vehicles' OBDII ports remain powered even when the engine is off. If this occurs, disconnect the HUD when the vehicle is parked for extended periods, or switch to GPS mode using a switched USB power source. |
