Setup
1. Initial Charging
Your Timex Expedition Gallatin watch is equipped with a solar movement, meaning it is charged by any light source. For optimal performance, expose the watch face to light for several hours before initial use. A full charge provides approximately a two-month power reserve.
- Place the watch in direct sunlight or under a strong artificial light source.
- Avoid placing the watch in excessively hot environments during charging.
2. Setting Time and Date
- Pull out the crown: Gently pull the crown (the knob on the side of the watch) to the outermost position.
- Set the time: Rotate the crown to move the hands clockwise until the desired time is displayed. For watches with a date function, ensure you set the time past 12 AM/PM to correctly advance the date.
- Set the date (if applicable): If your watch has a date display, pull the crown to the middle position (if it has two clicks) or rotate it counter-clockwise in the outermost position (if it has one click) to adjust the date. Push the crown back in once the date is set.
- Push in the crown: Once the time and date are set, push the crown back into its original position against the watch case to start the watch and ensure water resistance.

Operating the Watch
Timekeeping
The watch features an analog-quartz movement, providing accurate timekeeping. The hour, minute, and second hands display the current time.
Water Resistance
This watch is water resistant to 50 meters (165 feet). This rating means it is suitable for short periods of recreational swimming. It is not suitable for diving or snorkeling. Ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water.
- Do not operate the crown while the watch is wet or submerged.
- Avoid exposing the watch to hot water or steam, as this can compromise the water seals.
Maintenance
Cleaning
To maintain the appearance of your watch:
- Wipe the watch case and crystal with a soft, damp cloth.
- For the nylon strap, it can be gently hand-washed with mild soap and water, then air-dried.
- Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these can damage the watch's finish.
Storage
When not in use, store your watch in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. To maintain the solar charge, periodically expose the watch to light.

Troubleshooting
- Watch not running: Ensure the watch has been sufficiently charged by exposing it to light. If the crown is pulled out, push it back in.
- Date not changing: Check if the time has passed midnight. If the date changes at noon, you may have set the time for PM instead of AM. Adjust the time by 12 hours.
- Condensation under crystal: This may indicate a breach in the water resistance. Avoid further water exposure and consult Timex customer support.
