Setup

1. Battery Installation and Charging:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio.
  2. Carefully remove the cover.
  3. Insert the Li-ion rechargeable battery pack into the compartment, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover, ensuring it is securely latched.
  5. Connect the USB charging cable to the radio's USB port and to a compatible USB power adapter (not included) or computer USB port.
  6. The charging indicator light will illuminate. Charge the battery fully before first use (approximately 3-4 hours).
  7. Once fully charged, disconnect the charging cable.

Operating Instructions

1. Power On/Off:

  • To turn on the radio, press and hold the central Power button (⏻) until you hear a tone.
  • To turn off the radio, press and hold the central Power button (⏻) until the radio powers down.

2. Adjusting Volume:

  • While the radio is on, briefly press the Power button (⏻) to cycle through volume levels.

3. Channel Selection:

  • Press the CH+ button to increase the channel number.
  • Press the CH- button to decrease the channel number.
  • Ensure all radios in your group are set to the same channel for communication.

4. Transmitting and Receiving:

  • To transmit, press and hold the PTT (Push-to-Talk) button located on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone.
  • Release the PTT button to stop transmitting and return to receive mode.
  • When receiving a transmission, the signal indicator light will illuminate.

5. VOX Function (Voice Operated Exchange):

  • The VOX function allows hands-free transmission. When activated, the radio will transmit automatically when it detects your voice.
  • Refer to the full programming software (if available) for detailed VOX activation and sensitivity settings.

6. Channel Scan:

  • The channel scan feature allows the radio to automatically scan through all available channels for activity.
  • Consult the full programming guide for instructions on how to activate and use the scan function.

7. Keyboard Lockout:

  • This feature prevents accidental changes to settings.
  • To activate/deactivate, refer to the specific key combination or programming instructions.

8. Monitor Function:

  • The monitor function allows you to listen to a channel continuously, overriding squelch settings to hear weak signals.
  • Typically activated by a dedicated button or a short press of a function key.

9. Busy Channel Lockout (BCL):

  • BCL prevents transmission on a channel that is already in use, avoiding interference.
  • This feature is usually enabled by default or configurable via programming software.

10. Low Battery Alert:

  • When the battery level is low, the radio will emit an audible alert or display a visual indicator. Recharge the battery promptly.

11. Power Saving Function:

  • The radio automatically enters power-saving mode after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the radio's exterior. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Battery Care: To maximize battery life, avoid overcharging and fully discharging the battery regularly. Store the radio and battery in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods.
  • Storage: Store the radio in a dry, dust-free environment away from extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting
