Setup

1. Unpacking and Initial Lofting

Your Hyperion sleeping bag comes with both a compression stuff sack for travel and a larger storage sack for long-term storage. For initial use, remove the sleeping bag from its compression stuff sack. Gently shake and fluff the bag to allow the down insulation to loft fully. This process may take a few minutes, especially after prolonged compression.

2. Integrating with a Sleeping Pad (SynergyLink Connectors)

The Hyperion sleeping bag features SynergyLink Connectors, designed to integrate the bag with your sleeping pad for enhanced efficiency and comfort, preventing you from rolling off the pad during sleep.

1. Lay your sleeping pad flat.
2. Position the Hyperion sleeping bag on top of the pad.
3. Locate the elastic SynergyLink straps on the underside of the sleeping bag.

1. Entering and Exiting the Bag

The Hyperion features a partial zipper designed to reduce weight while maintaining thermal efficiency. To enter, unzip the bag as far as it goes, slide in, and then zip it up. The ergonomic mummy shape is designed to minimize dead air space for warmth.

2. Adjusting the Hood and Draft Collar

The hood and draft collar are crucial for retaining warmth. Cinch the drawcords around the hood to reduce the opening and keep your head warm. The draft collar, located around the neck, helps prevent warm air from escaping and cold air from entering.

3. Understanding Temperature Ratings

The Hyperion 20F/-6C is rated for comfort down to 20°F (-6°C). This rating is based on ISO 23537 standards. 1. Cleaning Your Sleeping Bag

2. Use a down-specific cleaner (e.g., Nikwax Down Wash Direct).
3. Wash on a gentle cycle with cold water.

5. Tumble dry on low heat with a few clean tennis balls to break up down clumps and restore loft. This process can take several hours. Ensure the bag is completely dry before storing to prevent mildew and down degradation.

2. Storage

When not in use, store your Hyperion sleeping bag uncompressed in its large storage sack. This allows the down to maintain its loft, which is critical for insulation. Avoid storing the bag compressed for extended periods, as this can permanently reduce its insulating properties.

3. Nikwax Hydrophobic Down

The 900-fill Nikwax Hydrophobic Down in your Hyperion bag is treated to resist moisture, staying drier and maintaining loft longer than untreated down. This treatment is durable but can be refreshed with appropriate down care products if needed after many washes.

Troubleshooting

1. Feeling Cold Spots

If you experience cold spots, ensure the down is evenly distributed throughout the baffles. Gently shake and massage the bag to redistribute the down. Verify that your sleeping pad has an adequate R-value for the conditions and that the SynergyLink Connectors are properly secured to prevent drafts from underneath.

2. Difficulty with Compression

The Hyperion is designed to be highly compressible. If you find it difficult to pack into the compression stuff sack, ensure you are pushing the bag in from the foot end first, rather than rolling it. This helps to expel air more efficiently.
