1. Introduction

4. Setup

4.1 Mounting the Fan Unit

The PROCOOL SX340 is designed for installation in a standard 19-inch equipment rack, occupying 1U (1.75 inches) of vertical space.

  1. Identify an available 1U space in your equipment rack.
  2. Align the mounting holes on the fan unit with the corresponding holes on the rack rails.
  3. Secure the unit using appropriate rack screws (not included). Ensure the unit is firmly attached to prevent vibration.

4.2 Connecting Power

Connect the included power supply to the fan unit and a suitable electrical outlet.

  1. Connect the DC plug from the power supply to the power input jack on the rear of the SX340 fan unit.
  2. Plug the power supply into a standard 100-240 VAC electrical outlet.

4.3 Airflow Configuration (Intake/Exhaust)

The standard SX340 model is configured for intake airflow, blowing air into the rack. The SX340E model is configured for exhaust, pulling air out of the rack. Ensure the chosen model matches your cooling strategy. Exhausting is typically recommended when used in conjunction with a separate intake fan to establish controlled airflow.

5. Operation

5.1 Powering On/Off

The PROCOOL SX340 features a front panel On/Off switch for convenient control.

  • To turn the fan unit ON, press the power switch located on the front panel. The fans will begin to operate.
  • To turn the fan unit OFF, press the power switch again. The fans will stop.

5.2 Monitoring Performance

The SX340 operates at a fixed speed, providing a constant airflow of 18 CFM with a low noise level of 18 dBA. Regularly check the temperature within your rack to ensure effective cooling. Adjust the placement of the fan unit or other cooling solutions if temperatures remain high.
