Setup

Unpacking

  1. Carefully remove the engine from its packaging.
  2. Inspect the engine for any signs of damage during shipping. Contact your dealer immediately if damage is found.
  3. Ensure all included accessories and components are present. Refer to the packing list.

Fueling the Engine

Use only fresh, clean, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Do not use E85 fuel.

  1. Ensure the engine is off and cool before fueling.
  2. Locate the fuel tank cap, usually marked with a fuel pump symbol.
  3. Slowly remove the cap and fill the tank, leaving a small air gap at the top to allow for fuel expansion. Do not overfill.
  4. Securely replace the fuel cap.

Checking Engine Oil Level

Proper oil level is crucial for engine longevity.

  1. Place the engine on a level surface.
  2. Locate the oil dipstick/fill cap.
  3. Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, and reinsert it without screwing it in (if applicable).
  4. Remove the dipstick again and check the oil level. It should be between the 'ADD' and 'FULL' marks.
  5. If low, add recommended engine oil (refer to specifications) slowly until the correct level is reached.
  6. Securely replace the dipstick/fill cap.

Operating Instructions

Starting the Engine

  1. Ensure the fuel valve is in the 'ON' position.
  2. Move the choke lever to the 'CHOKE' position (if the engine is cold).
  3. Set the throttle lever to the 'FAST' or 'START' position.
  4. Pull the recoil starter handle slowly until resistance is felt, then pull firmly and quickly. Repeat if necessary.
  5. Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the 'RUN' position as the engine warms up.

Stopping the Engine

  1. Move the throttle lever to the 'SLOW' or 'IDLE' position.
  2. Move the engine switch to the 'OFF' position.
  3. Turn the fuel valve to the 'OFF' position for storage or extended periods of non-use.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is essential for optimal performance and extended engine life.

Regular Checks (Before Each Use)

  • Check engine oil level.
  • Inspect air filter for dirt or debris.
  • Check fuel level.
  • Inspect for loose fasteners or leaks.

Air Filter Cleaning

Clean the air filter every 25 hours of operation or more frequently in dusty conditions.

  1. Remove the air filter cover.
  2. Carefully remove the foam or paper filter element.
  3. Clean foam filters with warm, soapy water, rinse, and allow to air dry completely. Lightly oil with engine oil before reinstallation.
  4. Clean paper filters by tapping gently or using compressed air from the inside out. Replace if heavily soiled or damaged.
  5. Reinstall the filter and cover.

Spark Plug Inspection

Inspect the spark plug every 50 hours of operation.

  1. Remove the spark plug cap.
  2. Using a spark plug wrench, remove the spark plug.
  3. Inspect the electrode for wear, fouling, or carbon buildup.
  4. Clean any deposits with a wire brush.
  5. Check the spark plug gap using a feeler gauge. Adjust if necessary to the specified gap (refer to specifications).
  6. Reinstall the spark plug and torque to specifications. Reattach the spark plug cap.
