  1. Inspect Components: Verify all parts listed in the packaging are present and undamaged. This includes the Auto-Jig unit, drill bit, collar, hex wrench, and screw assortment.
  2. Position the Jig: Place the Auto-Jig on a stable, flat surface. For optimal stability and repeated use, consider securing the jig to your workbench using clamps or screws through the designated mounting holes.

Operating Instructions

The ARMOR TOOL Auto-Jig simplifies pocket hole joinery with its automatic adjustments. Follow these steps for effective use:

  1. Prepare Workpiece: Ensure your wood piece is cut to the desired dimensions and free of debris.
  2. Place Workpiece: Insert the workpiece into the jig, ensuring it rests firmly against the backstop and the side fence.
  3. Engage Auto-Adjust Clamp: Push the clamping lever down to secure the workpiece. The patented Auto-Adjust mechanism will automatically set the drill block to the correct height and simultaneously set the drill bit collar to the precise depth required for your material thickness.
  4. Verify Settings: Observe the indicators on the jig to confirm the automatic settings for material thickness, screw length, and jig setting. The color-coded system on the jig will guide you in selecting the appropriate screw from your kit.
  5. Drill Pocket Hole: Insert the provided drill bit into your drill. Align the drill bit with the drill guide holes on the jig. Apply steady, even pressure while drilling through the guide, allowing the bit to create the pocket hole.
  6. Clear Chips: Utilize the dust collection port or clear wood chips manually after each hole to maintain optimal performance.
  7. Release Workpiece: Lift the clamping lever to release the workpiece.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance will ensure the longevity and continued accuracy of your ARMOR TOOL Auto-Jig.

  • Cleaning: After each use, especially after drilling, clear all sawdust and wood chips from the jig, particularly around the clamping mechanism and drill guide. A brush or compressed air can be effective.
  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of light machine oil to the moving parts of the clamping mechanism to ensure smooth operation.
  • Drill Bit Care: Keep your drill bit sharp and clean. A dull bit can lead to poor hole quality and increased strain on the tool.
  • Storage: Store the Auto-Jig in a clean, dry environment, away from excessive moisture or extreme temperatures.
